For the time he spent on that he could have build his own 'Full Scale' kit plane.  

  I'm not judging him.  That's outstanding work.  

  OTOH, not only are you out 10K if it crashs, what if it hits someone's house?.  It's the size of a Cruise Missile.

Can you imagine what a hoot it would be to fly it past a real tower? If the controllers didn't know it was on the way then do a close flyby of the tower.  :D

This is just a wild guess on my part...but I would say that the builder does NOT teach school for a living.
