I say Clint Eastwood. The guy is amazing imho.
Just finished watching "In the Line Of Fire" pretty good movie and Clint pulled off another great role at 63 years of age. I really liked him in "Unforgiven" too.
I will really miss him when he passes on.
-
Connery, must be in his mid seventies now...
-
Does Harrison Ford count as old? If so, him.
If not, Sean Connery.
-
Sean Connery
Clint is just plain ugly

Clint is about 73 now, but I never would consider Connery very cool. Eastwood has cool in spades imo.

Of course, got to respect the lady's view :)
I just think Clint Eastwood has consistantly had a vibe about him that realy has not changed with age.

If you like Clint, check out "Bloodwork".
Eastwood and Connery have different acting styles but both definitely have the "Cool Factor".
My pick would be Robert Duval.

I second that emotion, although Clint does have a certain "aura" about him....Gunny Highway...the High Plains Drifter....Josey Wales...Harry Callahan
No actor could have pulled off those roles quite like Clint

Connery, but Duval isnt bad either.
-
Eastwood, he's the man. Duvall ain't far behind. Connery's a banana.

Woody Allen!

I cant stand Clint actually. He should retire...
Robert Duval and Sean Connory is top notch...
-
Jack Nicholson

Paul Newman, if for no other reason than the fact that he's a big-time race car driver/team owner.
-
I kinda like Peter Falk (Columbo) and James Garner...Never see enough "Rockford Files...:aok
-
Dennis Hopper 69

Met him when he was directing the Movie Hot Spots at the Red Rose in Austin, TX
Very cool person.

Morgan Freeman is pretty damn tough as well. His acting in numerous movies, especially 7, is amazing.

-
How about James Earl Jones ... I really liked him as Darth Vader
-
How old is Lesly Nielsen?
-
Can't believe anyone has said Chris Walken.
He is one of my favorite actors.
-
Morgan Freeman could slip back into his "Easy Reader" role and still be cool.
Yep, I give it up to Morgan for doing kids' shows and adult dramas and making it all so cool for all generations.

Clint is a legend. Connery is an actor. Could you imagine turning down Gandalf and Morphias(from the matrix) and takeing Alan what ever in leage of extraordinary gentlemen.
Anyone see Duval in Comache?

Was frying my brain trying to remember his name, he is way cool.
Loved his Saturday Night Live skit
When he did that dance video couple years ago,
Deerhunter
etc...
Clint definetly, Sean Connery same, and Robert D. one of my favorite actors..
tuff question, Jack Nichollson can pull off any role, still seem young when he wants too, and Dennis Hopper is just plain scary nuts :)

James Garner is one of the nicest in the industry to work with. He treats the crew as equels without a hint of pretentiousness.
Stewart Whitman is another with the same qualities but he's a virtual unknown to most. I visit him 3-4 times a year at his home in Monticeto, Ca.
He's a regular guy with a great sense of humor. His stories about 'old hollywood' and the actors he's worked with are captivating, informative and funny.

Gotta agree with rpm371 on this one.
really liked him on Open Range.
Hell I liked him in everything he has been in for that matter.

i'd say sean connery...but only if he ever goes back to james bond as a villain...preferably as one that gets a .50 within half a inch of james's head and was only thrown off by jame's current bikini wearing broad err...high kicking the baddies head...

No one defines "cool" better than Lee Marvin.

Yes! It is. There'll be no more "Colonel Angus", ladies. Call me by my given name.
Oh, Anal..
I so love the sound of "Colonel Angus".. but I guess I could give Anal Angus a try.
Christopher Walken is a different class altogether....
The Chris Walker/Dennis Hopper scene in True Romance was magic...

I met Tommy Lee Jones back several years ago when he was filming Blue Sky with Jessica Lang (grade A all american actress ***** right there) but Tommy Lee was a very cool man.
So Tommy Lee Jones, Sean Connery, Clint Eastwood, Robert Duval, Morgan Freeman, Jack Nicholson and James Garner are my favorites.
Hell if Steve McQueen was still around he would be leading the list.

Bloke:
Jack Palance:
1991: 72-year-old JACK PALANCE is chosen Best Supporting Actor for City Slickers and goes cheerfully berzerk onstage. Demonstrating his rugged virility, Palance suddenly hits the floor and starts doing one-armed pushups. Returning to the podium, Palance makes a few off-color comments and rambles: "As far as two-handed pushups are concerned, you can do that all night." In true Hollywood fashion, the incident jump-starts Palance's career.

Every male on the planet stands in the cool line behind him. Heck, he still could have any woman that he wished.

rpm, the guy was in "horse whisperer" ......no cool in him. Maybe personable, but not "cool" imo. But, then again, Clint was in "Bronco Billy" :lol
Lots of good actors mentioned here. I think Sean Connery is one of the best actors mentioned, and Gene Hackman is always great in a movie like someone said.

Horse Whisperer was a "Chick Flick". Women ate it up. Isn't that a major factor of cool?
BTW, Clint was in Bridges of Madison County. Touche'.

Redford followed whisperer with The Last Castle and Spy Game which I thought were both excellent (not sure if that erases Whisperer though)
...mind you I rewatched A bridge too Far the other day, and that had a real class cast: Redford, Connery, Micheal Caine, James Caan, Hackman, Hardy Kruger...

I just saw where he was speaking at a rally the day before yesterday supporting Vets for Bush/Chenney at his age he is still dropping and doing push-ups on stage. When he was asked who to him was the greatest tough guy in the movies he said "Me"
The guy tried the follow up question. "Besides you, who was the closest runner-up?"
Palance said "Nobody even comes close"
Plus he also flew the B-24
