Starting with Beta 32, AH2 no longer honors P51DSID.txt file used to designate the index of the transparent color. Is this by design, or a bug?

I have been using a transparent color to "blank out" redundant fuselage details, such as the canopy frame, that where not required for a particular skin. I can go back and add the details if AH is discontinuing the use of the P51DSID.txt file -- or use an alfa (*_a.bmp) file?

p.s. There are also some sorting issues with some of the LODs.

Naming convention change to do a conflict with the description file.
the file should now be p51dsid_a.txt

Recent skin available in AH has transparent color showing – the pink on the vertical stab.

This skin was submitted before the naming convention change and is using "p51dsid.txt" to designate the index of the transparent color. The file's name needs to be changed to "p51dsid_a.txt".
HT, do you want me to re-submit the skin, or will you handle it?

explain what text to add to the sid file please
rgb values?

Citabria,
Each color gets assigned a number after indexing to 256 colors. The "p51dsid_a.txt" holds a single number (0 thru 255) that is the index number for your transparent color. Typically, for my skins, it is either 0 or 1.

how do you determine the index number?
-
Citabria,
In Photoshop, after indexing to 256 colors, the info window will show the index (Idx) number for the color under the pointer. To get to the info window, use the top menu and select Window/Show Info.

Did you submit a skin with a transparency, if so did it have one orignaly?

HiTech,
Yes, I submitted a skin with a transparency. The zip file submitted included the "P51DSID.txt" file. If you mean did the original blue nosed "Cripes A'Mighty" have a transparency, yes it did. It was also using the "P51DSID.txt" file with a value of 0, which happens to correspond to the black color in its "P51DSID.bmp" file.

(18 Jun 04) Still waiting to hear if you want me to re-submit the skin with the corrected file name or if you will just rename the file. I consider this skin my "beta skin" so issues, like transparent colors, can get worked out. If your skin requirement have changed or are now better defined, have Skuzzy edit the Sticky "Skin Submissions" to include the technical requirements. MachNix
