It seems that we made an unlucky choice in video cards.

Do they disapear completly as end up being blue sky? And are they on steep slopes. If so was just a bug i fixed yesterday for the next patch.

While flying last night, when near a base that had a Shore Battery, the surrounding area around the SB is brown. The brown appears, to me, to look like a hairy blob and at the edges, the hair is moving rapidly. Quite strange to see.

Also, I have been seeing thin blue lines in certain sections of the terrain ... like where a flat plain adjoins the base of a mountain.

ATI Radeon 9500 128M (softmodded to a 9700)
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)

DirectX 9.0b (4.09.0000.0902)

No problems on slopes, hitech. This thread has more info:

The overlying textures repaint continuously. The underlying terrain textures become visible as the overlays repaint.

[ Added: Seems it started for us after Beta 27.]

Rolix thats a know issue and I have it on my box with ati cards at certain ranges also. It is to the point that it became exceptible until I can do a little more tweeking on it. It is simply a z buffer fighting issue.

Thanks, Hitech. Other than that, mine is running much smoother with the last few releases. Limiting to 60fps seems to have helped this class of video card.

Good luck working on it!
