I prefer to use instant view mode myself, dunno how people can use pan or snap and get any good SA.
I’m interested in hearing anyone’s comments if they do use snap or pan. Flying Buffs I do use pan on exterior view though. Well it would be great if I could set instant mode to be my default, such a pain when in Buff and I go to gunner view toggles to snap, and same with replaning.
I’ve gained about 10 fps in this version. The trade off for that seems to be a frequent shuddering effect and bad fps drops during explosions. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

snap view works best for me

snap view for me as well

I prefer to stay in SNAP mode. This way you
can use cursors and PgUP/Down to adjust your
head all the time. The problem, for me, is
that with SNAP move, changing views is very
dependent of the FPS. For example, from front
view to left view I spend less than a second
in the P51, but more than a second in the
P38. So, I'm doomed to use instant views
while flying P38.

Instant (snap) here. There is no other way!
-
I use snap views.
Try this for SA practice...go to TA and use only your front view for dogfighting someone 1 vs 1..you want to talk about SA!

'm preffering SNAP over instant because the short transition movement helps me to keep oriented ..
And i use ZOOM to get the orienattion of a bogie .. and for blind spot bounces (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

I only use "instant" view myself. The other views seem like they would produce nausea in me if used frequently over an extended period of time.

WOW guess alot of people do use snap interesting. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Thx kieren you just said that so i wouldn't be alone (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

I'm embarressed to say I dont know differance between "instant" and "snap" views. I use the default vs pan which is worst to me...how do you switch from instant to snap???
-
Instant is well... instant. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Now screen moving or anything... just one view one frame, next view the next. Snap view actually scrolls the camera to your next view, just does so very quickly. Like "snapping" your head to the next view quickly. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I find this increases my SA as it gives me visual cues as to where my head is going vs. the plane. I use snap.

And she took a round coming 'cross the Channel last trip
I was thinking 'bout my baby and lettin' her rip
Always got me through so far
Well they can ship me all over this great big world

Snap

Erm... I'm a frying Pan man myself... like to be able to keep target fixed in view and rotate aircraft to face or whatever. Might try using instant now though!!

snap

Instant=f9
snap=f7
pan=f8
zoom=z
I like f9 (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Use zoom alittle for up close and personal. Zoom means close to Boom!!
Ya, f8 is nice for looking around on those climb outs.
F3, external view, is nice in buffs and goons.

Snap..The head panning helps me greatly with plane orientation.
Zoom to see a bogey's attitude at a distance.
