Let loose wires touch in my car, where CD/radio is supposed to be, now dash/interior lights, speedo, and tach don't work anymore...
Anyone know what this needs to be fixed?

Fuse

Develop a very strong sense of speed. Same thing happened to me when I had my old Ford LTD. Never got a ticket;)
-
hmm.. i have unmarked fuse box on a BMW.. how do I find which one?
They are solid fuses, and I can't see which ones are blown.. :(
-
Flux capacitor.
-
Yep sure does sound like a fuse.
uh huh...yep.......Fuse alright.
(seriously though, sounds like you just blew a fuse)

Knocked out a tail light, and license plate illumination... arrggh..
Sounds like a lot of fuses to me...
-
Lazer if you haver acces to a multimeter, just meter them.
You should show continuity from one side through the other. If it shows continuity its good. If it is a dead short (no path) it is bad.

dont forget to make sure your gig line is strait and that you have plenty of blinker fluid.
YES you popped a fuse or two...no bid deal. that's what chewing gum wrappers are for.
-
look for the fuse that is burnt
-
I would check your fuze box but it sounds strange because thats not suppose to happen since everything in your car thats electrical is suppose to be isolated to seperate circuits. Otherwise if your interior light bulb burn out, your car would stop in the middle of the freeway. Were you running a main hot wire directly from the battery to power your stereo?
-
everything is not isolated, they are just ran in parallel not sequential circuits. so one burnt bulb won't kill the circuit (like with cheap Christmas lights, which are sequential)
each fuse can have several systems running off it, or just one, depending on the amp-load. several small things, like stereo, dash lights, instrument cluster, etc, can and usually are ran off of one fuse.
it's very likely that the radio, dash lights and instrument cluster share the same fuse. they are in the same area, and often share a fuse.
so just tape those wires so they don't ground again, and then look through the fuses with a penlight and find the burnt one.
-
Yep, your right, dash interior lights, etc... usually run on the same circuit. I didnt read the original post correctly thought he said all his elect was burnt.
