I'm looking for a video capturing device for capturing videos ingame, and sound...
Anyone know of a free program that can do this?

What do you mean ingame?
-
Something that captures images, basicly making a movie, and captures sound, while I play a game..
-
I am no expert on this but does your Video card have Svideo out?
-
I dunno, how do I check? I would want to record sound too though..

Next to where your monitor plugs in, there should be an S-Video plug in. Its circular, and has room for some pins.
What my dad and I have done, is hook up the video card to a VCR, using a converter to plug into the VCR end from an S-Video plug to an A/V plug. We get sound by plugging in a splitter to our sound card, which has plugins for the speakers and for the A/V plug to go to the VCR. Then, to get the video into the computer, we hook up our Digital Camcorder to the VCR, and we record the video to the camcorder. We then plug our Camera to our computer using a firewire hookup, and Use Windows Movie Maker program to take the Camcorder video and convert it to AVI. Then we use Adobe Premiere to edit it.
Lengthy process, but it works for us.

Google "Fraps" the free version does no sound, the buy version does. Example:

(12.5meg WMV file)

Lizking
What game was that?
-
It is IL2, but it looks a WHOLE lot better when I play. I use the free version of Fraps, so I have to put the screen rez down to 640x480 to film.
-
I want sound though :(
-
Makes me want to play Il2 again...
-
Ok, umm how do I get fraps to start working? I press F9 nothing happens..
-
Yeah it drops my frame rate from 30fps to about 0.5, I need something that dosn't affect my gameplay..
-
Has no effect on my my FPs(well, maybe 1 or 2). Set it to 15 frames per second; when you edit it, it will double to 30fps.
-
Ok.. I'll try it again..
I had it set at 30fps
