Post by: Gunslinger on May 29, 2004, 12:17:13 AM
WOW.....***** WOW

I finally saw this for the first time and I've got to say I'm fricken hooked.  Terentino is a genious.  I read an interveiw w/ him and he said that he's written more movies than he can make in his life time or somthing like that.  He also said he wrote a WWII pacific epic that would take up at least 3 movies.

WOW

seen them all...forgot from dusk till dawn....but I'm not a big clooney fan myself

I just like the song "afterdark" in it.  Got a lap dance to it once and that pretty much changes your whole like/dislike on the song/movie

Didn't really forget about Dusk 'til Dawn... just left it off. It's got some moments, but it's not one of my favorites.

BTW... Lucy Liu was funny as hell on Kill Bill, dontcha think?

Pulp Fiction was GREAT!

Kill Bill, well, umm....I bought the DVD and started to watch it a few days ago and: I turned it off after scene @ 2...

Reason? Dialog was like a 5th grade playground "when do want to die bi*ch?" "we meet at the park at 2 am, dressed all in black"
freaking gay. "we have us a knife fight" how fugging gay!

I will say that the style and music was good.....

Tarentino, my favorite director that I'd never want to have a conversation with. :)

Lucy Liu was AWSOME...The animation senes were pretty cool too
I thaught it was cool when she said "I appologize for ridiculing you earlier"  In the middle of a fight its like she knew she had her hands full

NUKE  you gotta give it a try.  I think the conversation is just trying to lead up to something.

Like I said I hate clooney but that whole afterdark thing....hmmm  memories

I feel I would have to lose a few IQ points to be interested.....but the "style" struck me as pure genious.

Bah.  Haven't seen vol. 2.
Vol. 1 was mildly amusing, but mostly because of that scene at the end where Uma's on the Jumbo headed from Okinawa to Japan.  She's got her katana between her and the window (we saw that shot earlier), but the camera pulls back to show that whoever was sitting across the aisle in first class left his/her katana there while attending away-from-chair business.

So, on flights inside of Japan, are you allowed only one carry-on, and one katana?

best shot of the film.

Dinger I thaught that too....she had it on the way over there from Oki and the way back.....was a little strange.  I thaught this movie was brilliant....not saying much coming from me of course.

I liked Kill Bill Vol 1 (haven't seen 2 yet, no babysitter lol). But they were a MAJOR departure from his earlier work in my opinion.

Like Nuke mentions, the dialogue is retarded in KB, whereas it was really the strength of his other movies (and don't forget True Romance, written by QT, directed by Tony Scott who screwed up the ending). In some ways I think that this 5th grade dialogue was intentional, as if QT were trying to show the audience that he was capable of doing something different. I have a friend who works in Hollywood, who used to love QT, but stopped caring when he realized that "all he does is write like Elmoore Leonard" (who wrote the book "Rum Punch" which Jackie Brown was based on). I imagine that this was a typical criticism that he is/was attempting to get away from.

His next project is tittled "Inglorious Bastards" and sounds a lot like "the dirty dozen." It's a WWII film where convicts sentenced to death are given a high risk mission to save their necks. I haven't heard if it would be Pacific theater, but that would make sense if he's trying to get a little difference from the dirty dozen.

Anyhow once I got past the fact that there wasn't going to be kick bellybutton dialogue in Kill Bill, I was able to settle down and enjoy it.

I just watched it last nite, I'm not a QT fan but a friend of mine said he liked it so I gave it a shot...

I think it was okay.

The whole overdone blood spurting thing is still hilarious though.

Yes I think some of the "tackyness" was intentional.
