Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.
Go to sleep, peaceful sleep,
May the soldier or sailor,
God keep.
On the land or the deep,
Safe in sleep.
Love, good night, Must thou go,
When the day, And the night
Need thee so?
All is well. Speedeth all
To their rest.
Fades the light; And afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.
Thanks and praise, For our days,
'Neath the sun, Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh. (http://bands.army.mil/music/bugle/calls/taps.mp3)

I have no pic or link. But during the ww2 memorial TV broadcast, I saw a scene of a older man in a wheelchair watching the events on Sat.
He had but one decoration around his neck. A star with a pale blue ribbon and thirteen stars.
I say one thing........OOHRAH!

Bless the United States of America.
The last, best hope of humanity on this wretched planet.

When I was 16, working my first job as a dishwasher, there was this lady from Britain, about mid 30's named Liz. She was constantly complaining about the US and even told me that the Americans "screwed up" the D Day landings. She complained about almost everything to do with the US. She said we had a crappy police force, had a bad address system, and on and on. She really almost never stopped.
I was pretty shy back then, and being only 16 felt a little intimidated by Liz. One night as we closed, she started again about the current US invasion on Grenanda.
I asked Liz why she chose to live here if she hated it so much. No answer. Even today that lady gets under my skin. Nothing but complaints for the nation she chose to live in.
Also had a German boss, Richard, when I was 20.......he was in the Hitler Youth as a kid. He would ***** all day long about how crappy things were in America compaired to Germany, yet where did he choose to live? He loved American country music though...
I actually really liked him and respected him though....and he liked me. I learned a lot from him. He had many interesting stories and insights. He was very smart, yet could be so dumb at times. He actually said that Hitler was a great man..... that Hitler was just the loser of a war in which the victors write the history of.
I tend to think that a lot of people from other nations really do admire the US, but they do not always want to openly say that.
Oh well, rant over :)
-
Good rant NUKE :)
I would never move to the US myself, but its far from the bottom of my list of choises..id say its on my top 10 list, and could if a few things change move to my top 5 list.

Soon as they fix that bad address system thing I'll be over there like a rat up a drain pipe!!

Yeah, I thought it was funny that she would complain about our address system too. She complained that street numbers and names actually changed between cities. I guess she was just stupid.
