Anyone involved in the battle for Brussels? What a great fight, took all evening. Never potatoed into a game for so long.
-
I couldnt be bothered with the computing hassle......BUT, I would like to think it was worth it.
I played the same AH scenario with you a few years back, I think it was Midway or thereabouts...you were top notch with you enthusiasm and dedication and seemed to really appreciate what you were doing. I suspect you carried that with you over to WW2OL.
No doubt it was worth it.
-
Yes, it was Midway, and I believe we were the ones who found the 2 CV's to the SW of the island. When AH scenarios are run right, and everyone adheres to the rules, they are alot of fun.
Actually, I play both games. I play Aces High when I want to fly and WW2online when I want to ground pound. I have a cable connection and at least 60% of my GV shells either bounce or have no effect(in AH), so driving a tank is no fun. The ground war in WW2online is fantastic, there is so much to do. OTOH, their flight model really stinks. You can have some fun with it, but the allied aircraft totally dominate.

This has been my fealing for some time now, I have had a WW2 online acount ever since it was in Beta, and play it for the same reasions, the ground war, and now I finial made Lt. in the French Navy I can take out DD's:)
AH is still the best for flying though by a long shot.

i have a question maybe one of you guys can answer for me....
i downloaded ww2online and when i try to run it (offline practice) it loads upside down. and i cant figure out how to fix it. and when i try to exit the computer locks up.
-
LMAO...SOunds like the same old WW2OL to me.I was one of the cursed to buy it right out of the boxes they were shipped in.Half the crap on the box wasnt even in the game.I know this has been rehashed a million time but after THAT experience they could give a free year and a million bucks to play it and I would STILL tell them to kiss my keester.:aok
-
The ground game still has my interest even though I had just horrible experiences with WWIIOL, mostly billing and unfinished code. Is it worth signing up now?

Classic WW2OL story. :)

Strange thing is that WWIIOL has been really stable in my comp from day one and I've never heard anyone having his screen turned upside down.
Fact is that game works fine but some guys playing it don't know watermelon about their computers and when something goes wrong it's easier to accuse the game than letting everyone know you don't know how to update drivers...
Those guys should really buy a X-Box.
-
Yeah, they should put that on the box. "If it doesn't work as advertised, it's your fault for expecting it too, buy a X-Box."
-
:rofl :rofl :rofl
-
WW2Online has come a long way since it first came out, their are so many new things, not just planes and tanks, and their are tones of them btw, the features are many now, and it looks a heck of a lot better than it did.
It is certainly worth the mony imo, defenatly worth a look see, espichaly if you havent tryed it a long time.

rico2, I usually play on the German side because I have built up the rank of Lt. Colonel. I would play allies if you want to hook up sometime, I do not belong to a squad now, so I can come and go as I please.

Now that is a blast, we loaded about 30 soldiers on a DD and headed out to launch an amphibious attack with three other DD's(as you know, the islands cant spawn tanks). Three of the DD's started unloading on the spawn areas while our DD pulled along the shoreline and dropped us off. We were running up the beach and the DD's were raining hell in front of us, that was a blast and probably the most fun I ever had in a game.
As for the questions about the game, I have heard some stories about the game not working and other issues. All I can tell you is from my experience, and I have not had any issues as far as the game working and customer service(I have not needed customer service). But let's face it, if you are looking to get the same customer service as HTC, forget it, HTC has set the bar.

Too often problem really is in the users computer and not in the game... regardless of the game.
Anyway.. what comes to WWIIOL, I haven't had any bigger problem with it than most of the other games.
Sometimes it might crash.. like about once or twice a week, what I remember from last week of playing it.
Meanwhile other games have crashed about as much.
It's really gone long way from the early days CTD's.
CTD bugs seem to have now shifted to game mechanics; units, new graphics..
Better than CTD's though.
As a ground pounder, I don't have too much to complain, theres no bigger show stoppers.
However the air is messed up ever since the plane DM and FM audits.
For example;
With DM It's funny how DB7/Havoc can soak up lots of hits in their wings (fuselage is like paper compared to titanium wings)
With FM Spitfire seems to be from an another dimension with the other planes - simply is able to do something which would be impossible. (and of course longitudal stability on some planes is horribly wrong, like for example 109 and 110.. you'd think those doesn't have vertical stabilizers or fuselage stabilizing)
-
I play/have played all the WWII sims/games. WWIIOL is the only MMP war sim i play other than the occasional WBIII S3's. WWIIOL runs flawlessly on my PC. Biggest "problem" with WWIIOL is the "64-Player Limit" which affects the biggest battles.
Other than that, it rocks....

Funked you should know better.
I more or less loathe Hatch and Doc; their credibility is all time low and basically everything they say must be taken with grain of salt...
That just doesn't change the fact that game itself runs just fine in my computer.

Don't get me going, I have to remind myself not to fly whenever I am tempted. The funny thing I like to watch is the Blen barnstormers, they do immelmans, loop dee loops, you name it, every trick in the book. The show stopper is when you are an infantry watching a 110 come in to shoot down the Blen that has been bombing you. Then the Blen manages to dogfight the 110 and saddle up on his six, too freakin funny.

so as for the upside screen, do you think that the computer is at fault (what could be the cause and fix), or do you think that the program that i downloaded is crap

Some codec-pack (for videos) messed up my computer months ago and it turned the vids upside down but that's first thing I 've heard that game behaves like a that.
I'd check that videocard's drivers and DirectX are up to date (some Radeon's had problems with new version of game).
Drivers: drivers for GeForce cards (http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp) and for Ati Radeons (http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html).
DirectX can be found from Here (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx).

When updating your drivers, make sure you clean out your old drivers. I updated my sound drivers too. There is a tool to clean out your old drivers on this thread (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=118132)

I know, I know, I just couldn't stop myself. It's just too easy to make WW2OL jokes. :)
I might install my copy this week though. First time since beta. :)
