Title: cockpit joystick
Post by: ace25th on May 31, 2004, 01:41:22 PM
how come there is no joystick in the cockpit? How could the pilot fly the plane? I mean HT doesnt have to make it move when u turn, but just have the effect of it being there. Also there is no stearing wheel in any gvs.

more stuff to draw, more drag on the GPU, more effort to model, lower frame rates.. keep it the way it is IMHO.

Cheers,

Because we wanted the pilot to have to use the cockpit instruments rather than have a HUD.  Since the cockpit instruments are meant to serve as more than background scenery, it was problematic to plant a stick or yoke in there that would obscure some instruments.  On some planes it wouldn't be a factor but on others it would really be a pain.  Instead of having it on some planes and not on others, we just kept it uniform.
