Got my old machine working after a major crash problem and now I got a problem. Downloaded Aces High last night and I can't even get to the clipboard on first start up. I get an error message " Initilization Failed With - 5 Main SN _ Failed - 2 ".
What does that mean? I set the resulution for the game to the same settings as my monitor and that message is dissplayed.
Had to reorder the installation disk for my sound card, now would that be a problem with the game running?
OS Win 98SE
Athlon ,MMX,3Dnow w/800Mhz processor
Nividia NForce 4 (PCI) 128Mb (for now)
Sound Blaster Live (not working untill drivers show up)

The error indicates DirectX was not able to initialize the sound card. Make sure you have DirectX 9 installed and your sound card drivers are installed.
You can run DXDIAG (Start->Run->DXDIAG), select the Sound tab and see if any additional information is available about the problem.

Can't you just download your sound card drivers?
DJ229 - AIR MAFIA

Here is a good sight for older drivers if you can't find them elsewhere.

Only problem is you will get alot of misposted drivers. So you may have to try several drivers in order to get the correct driver.
I only use this site when I can't get a driver from the manufactors website.

You can get the drivers for the SBLive card from Creative Labs WEB site here. (http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/)

No! They got plenty of driver files for sound cards but not for mine.
I own a Sound Blaster Live! (value/player compac/intel/IBM/NEC OEM), not sure why that makes mine different (part # CT4830).
Between contacting PCChips for drivers for my mainboard and now issues with my sound card drivers i'm getting quite fed up with this crap.
Do you now anything about Athlon boards (M817LMR) boards Skuzzy?

I am pretty weak on the AMD stuff.
Who told you that the Creative drivers (they make the board/chips for that card) would not work?
Is it an add in card or was it provided with an OEM computer?
Here is the link to the Sound Blaster Live! Value drivers for Windows 98SE (http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?centric=4856&dlcentric=247&ProductName=Sound+Blaster+Live!+Value&OS=3&OSName=Windows+98SE)

I've downloaded and used that file from CL and it didn't work. I e-mailed them with card name, serial number, and model number and they were the ones that told me I would have to order the driver disk. They also ask for some other number on the back of the card that in order to see it you have to move it around in the light at an angle to read it, they also wanted to know the color of print the number was in.
All in favor in thinkinking that i'm getting screwed some how say "I". :)
I also tried another file from there download setion and still didn't work. Right now i'm trying a driver file from this place called driversguide.com so i'll se if this works.

Sounds like you got an OEM card then. Where did the card come from?

Thats the screwed up part. I bought the machine running, from a friend for $100 bucks. He got the machine built by a friend for free. When I got it It had no restore cd (that was made) cause it got lost. Had a problem with the computer due to curuppted files due to some online music/video download program. Had to f-disk the hard drive and start over again, and it's going really slow. Having to find out the hard way what is in this computer.
PCChips M817LMR mainborad built in 95'
AMD MMX,3Dnow 800Mhz proccesor
nVidia MX4406 128Mb pci video card
215Mb ddr ram
10Gb HDD
Os Win 98SE(had ME untill f-disk)
In other words about the card, who knows man. If I had $750 I would just build me a new machine right now and say F@!* this and be done with it.
Hey as for ordering that new disk, I called CL and they said that the disk will cost $5 (to AK $10-$12), I don't think they know what i've been dealing with, and that is probablly for the wrong card.
