For me the game I'm most looking forward to this year is without doubt Silent Hunter III, subsims have always been my favourite for a non online game and this one is coming along very well.

Strat-o-matic football, can't wait to see what the Patriot's defensive cards look like.

Rome - Total War
If you haven't got Medieval Total War & Viking Invasion go and buy it today - it's that good, I've had them for a while and have just started playing a long campaign as Germany - struggling a bit with the pesky French who keep breaking treaties and the Italians who are building far too many castles.
-
AH3/TFTT?
-
Dangerous Waters
AH2
Doom3
S.T.A.L.K.E.R
SH3
A new pc so i can play them all, and time to play them all :(
-
Rome Total War definitly :D

I second that emotion....
What always annoyed me was the constant "return" of the pope/papal state...loved total:med apart from that..

If you are looking forward to Rome Total War, have a look at Spartan (Peloponnesian war)
The combat model is quite different. You dispose of your troops before the battle, give them simple orders and then virtually no control over the troops once the battle begins.

There is also a Napoleonic mod for Medieval out there - got the download - can't get the damn thing to work though...

I liked the Japanese version (Shogun) best. Utterly brilliant for its time.

Rome: Total War
Half-Life 2
And for you Total War lovers, there was a British BBC TV program called "Time Commanders" that used the new Total War engine. Basic premise: four friends get together and control one side in a historical battle set in anchient times.
If you want to see them, you can download them here (http://www.legiontotalwar.com/)
Be forewarned: all of the movies are ~300MBs; but well worth the download for a quick RTW fix.
(Almost forgot-you have to register with the site to get to the downloads section where the vids are)

MTW is a excellent game and I've played both constantly since their release. However always felt the limited number of troops on the battlefield at any one time was a let down. Especially when you had masses of troops but could only bring them on as reserves.

Pirates of the Burning Sea is starting to look exceptional. Going to get tough for HT with so many other excellent games out there after my $15 bucks a month.

I have 2 friends that work in the game industry, 1 works for ritual other for id.
1 got to play doom 3 at the others workplace for a weekend, said it scared the crap out of him. And it did it for most of the game. Says he hates unlit hallways now.
-
GTR whenever it makes it to store shelves.
Pirates looks interesting, but the ships don't actually look like they're IN the water, but sort of floating above it. They need to add some sort of graphical disturbance where water meets wood.
I don't know if I'll get around to SH3. Between AH2 and (hopefully) GTR I probably won't have much game time left over.
-
Anyone know if GTR is comming to the Xbox?
-
The big ones: Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 (mainly because I enjoyed the originals so much)
Others:
AH2 - natch!
Pacific Fighters - natch!
Knights Over Europe (I think it is supposed to be released this year, but not sure - been looking for a good modernized WW1 sim)
SH3 looks good, but I think I will pass since it doesn't have a dynamic campaign (something like Aces of the Deep would be awesome). Also, I wish it was a USN PTO sim instead of u-boats, though I understand why you would choose them over the USN.
I am sure there will be a few others here and there that I may pick up. Oh, and the new Splinter Cell is quite fun.

Harpoon III Multiplayer.
It might actually motivate me to not hate the Harpoon II interface.

I like the interface, what is it you dont like about it?
Its a great game, but i hope the rumors that "enthusiasts" will finish harpoon4 is true and that it will not be to many years in the future.

I loved the "look" of it all (AFAIK it was the first game to use NTDS symbology), but control just wasn't as intuitive as it was with the original game. I never did care for the hieroglyphics (although I imagine it gave the game a bit more international appeal) and I was forever assing up the mission system with missions going off to war and not being able to effectively change them to keep pace with the flow of the battle.
I always wound up going back to Harpoon Classic (after a brief affair with the good looking but rather Shallow "Fleet Command")
Have you played Harpoon3 at all?
-Sik

No, i havent had the pleasure of trying H3, but many years of H2. I like the realism of the H2 vs the classic. :)

Yeah, I have to agree. The detail for ASW was awesome! It's the one thing I miss the most about H2 over HC. I'm really trying to get into H2 again for the Multiplayer release, but I find myself playing HC on the train each day lol.
H3 is an update/giant bug fix from H2. It's the product of "enthusiasts" and I imagine the inspiration for the idea that the comunity can get H4 up and running.
(since everyone is posting eye candy... check this out! lol)

Chute and Ladders '04 ... riviting action !!!
Seriously ... I would love to see BattleZone revived.
-
lol, that was a messy screenshot....i guess its one from the H3 site. I usually leave all enviro stuff off and no datalinks. :)
-
When I was playing Harpoon 2 you couldn't group a strike package well, as I remember, which was a major annoyance so I continued playing classic. Was that ever patched?
Major bummer about Harpoon 4, hope the code gets released and developed.

Yup ... BattleZone II was very good too, but not as memorable as I.
The HoverTanks and the flight model for those things were great, along with great graphics ... way ahead of its time I believe.
