With the way that bomb craters are rendered, they have the capability of hiding vehicles and their icons on hills.
The craters are 2D (i.e. flat) and protrude from the side of a hill like a giant disc stuck horizontally in the ground. It allows vehicles to hide under the crater downslope from where the bomb hit. This hides the vehicles as well as their icons from all angles above the bomb crater itself. It also allows vehicles to view and fire through the crater.
