Title: Switched to TCP -- Should I Worry?
Post by: Halo on June 01, 2004, 09:59:09 PM
There have been a lot of postings about this, but concensus still seems elusive.  In AH II I often receive messages like:

Not receiving updates.  Switched to TCP.

I don't notice any difference in gameplay or screen refreshment.  Should I?

Is this message something to worry about, apply corrective action (what?) to, or disregard?

When I get that, I know the end is near. I get it one more time and then I am disconnected from the server.

I've had TCP switches that stabilized and lasted for a couple of hours or more (as long as my session) .... just to offer a different perspective. If I get no feedback about warpage after a tcp switch, I'll fly on knowing that at least there won't be another switch in the middle of a fight.

I'm same as Arlo. I make the switch almost every time I fly, and 90% of the time it works just fine for hours afterward.
