While a solid camera out of the box, the Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel user experience can be enhanced with a few simple, money-saving tricks. In fact, I roughly estimate that these tips and tricks can save you over $500
I know that claiming a savings of over $500 might seem far fetched, but I will show you below that it is possible.

Curly,
I've been looking at buying a 300D as there are some good deals here compared to the D70 on it at the moment. However I can't get that link to work can you please check it and repost?

Gixer, it would do no good to post the link. The page consists of many paragraphs, each containing a link to software/etc.
The page does take a long time to load. I just checked it (using the above link) and it took 3 minutes to load.

Ah, bummer it just bombs out for me after trying to load. I'll try again later. Thanks for the post anyway, looks interesting.

It's a link to a russian firmware "upgrade" for the D300 that basically gives it the functionality of a 10D. Boroda posted this a couple weeks ago. It's definately a grey area as far as "upgrades" go.

Ah that's interesting. As I read on a news board somewhere that canon were concerned that if they made the 300D Black and too good that it would take sales away from the 10D.
I'd really like to buy one but money just dosn't strech far enough for a DSLR at the moment plus there are the lens to buy as well.
:-(
Might have to look at a something like a Canon Powershot S1 IS instead.
Cheers guys.

Gixer, the site was /.-ed. I guess that's the reason for the non-responsiveness of the website.
I just pulled the page and had a 15 second response.
