With the future introduction of the Typhoon assured why no Tempest that could potentially use the same artwork?
Two aircraft for the price of one.

Yeah, give em the Tempest too, after we get the D-9 of course. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) How ya doing Beaz? When you Tangmere blokes going to come to AH so JG2 can give ya a whupping? He-He (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Hi Weazel.......well some of us are here already not under Tangmere though, ive only just joined because i was kinda annoyed with the way HS has made the P38 FM for WB2.75 completely porked
anyway youll find some of us flying Bishops if your around

The Typhoon has the reputation for air-mud stuff, and they are working right now on ground targets and ack, so I think that's why we are getting it instead of the Tempest.
-
Tempest was a mud mover as well. It was OK as a fighter, but like the Typhoon, it still lacked manueverabilty or performance at altitude.

I'm pretty sure the Tempest was used to chase down incoming A/C (whether it be a V-1 or a gaggle of FW's on a Jabo), it would have fit in better with this late-plane set HTC has, the Typhoon may be limited to ground role only if it flys like it did historically.

We have a couple of guys at the moment who fly a Mac. We are unlikely to leave them out in the cold. If we do decide to jump ship then rest assured with 60+ of us decending on the arena you guys will certainly know about it. I know most people appear to be waiting for WWII Online. I havn't flown AH in a while. When the Typhoon comes out I'll give it another fair evaluation and see how it has progressed. Apart from that since I made trainer I've been pretty busy.
P.S.... your D9 against a Tempest... your dogmeat... eat you for breakfast everytime. Why didn't Pyro and Hitech model the Tempest and Typhoon in Warbirds when they could have had two aircraft that both used exactly the same artwork... simple... because they would have had to have put up with a deluge of complaints from the LW pukes (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Congratulations on becoming a trainer<S>,I really haven`t kept up with Warbirds recently and wasn`t aware of it. As far as Tempest vs D-9 if what you say is true I`ll change my request to the TA-152. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Looking forward to seeing some of you RAF types in AH.

Not true, Typhoon and Tempest are different planes and need different art. Tempest has different tail, longer fuselage and much different wing. You can't recycle much stuff from Typhoon to Tempest.

Ummm... And those planes would have been flew only against lufwaffe planes in Warbirds since nobody else would complain? Gee, I wonder how that could be done in MA...

As far as how competitve a tempest would be here's the RAE assesment against the spit 14
=============================================
Brief Tactical Comparison with Tempest V
Range and Endurance- Rough comparisons have been made at the maximum cruising conditions of both aircraft. It is interesting that the indicated airspeed of each is about 280 mph and the range is about identical, both with full fuel load (including long-range tanks) and without (also no nose-tank-Tempest).
Maximum Speed- From 0-10,000 feet the Tempest V is 20 mph faster than the Spitfire XIV. There is then little to choose until 22,000 feet, when the Spitfire XIV becomes 30-40 mph faster, the Tempest's operational ceiling being about 30,000 feet as opposed to the Spitfire XIV's 40,000 feet.
Maximum Climb- The Tempest is not in the same class as the Spitfire XIV. The Tempest V, however, has a considerably better zoom climb, holding a higher speed thoughout the manoeuvre. If the climb is prolonged until climbing speed is reached then, of course, the Spitfire XIV will begin to catch up and pull ahead.
Dive- The Tempest V gains on the Spitfire XIV.
Turning Circle- The Spitfire XIV easily out-turns the Tempest.
Rate of Roll- The Spitfire XIV rolls faster below 300 mph, but definitely more slowly at speeds greater than 350 mph.
Conclusions- The tactical attributes of the two aircraft being completely different, they require a separate handling techique in combat. For this reason Typhoon squadrons should convert to Tempests, and Spitfire squadrons to Spitfire XIVs and definitely never vice-versa, or each aircraft's particular advantages would never be appreciated. Regarding performance, if correctly handled the Tempest is the better below about 20,000 feet and the Spitfire XIV the better above that height.
