...would you like to see developed based on a historical event or era?
I would like to see one based on the events of the year 1066 a.d., when three great protagonists vied for the throne of England. Harald Hardraada of Norway, Harold Godwineson of England, and William Bastard of Normandy clashed in some of the most pivotal struggles in English history. Viking against English, English against Norman. Always thought this would make a great documentary movie similar to Braveheart, without the liberties taken with the facts.
Your thoughts?
Regards, Shuckins/Leggern

I'd like to see a 'nam era Huey gunship sim.

Yeah..something to put you in the action at historical battles like Crecy, Poitiers, Agincourt, etc...
With a good archery model too. :D

Vort,
Thanks for the suggestion...I'll check it out.

same basicly, but id like to extend it to 80's :)

Napoleonic era battle/conquest sim - both infantry and naval engagements.
Gran Turismo series for PC.
-
Napoleonic-era Ship combat sim, where you have command of a frigate, with a dynamic campaign and all that.
-
I'd get any game that had a self-diagnostic application to tell exactly why it isn't running correctly.
That being said I'd like to see an update of SSI's "Fighting Steel". WWI and WWII naval warfare have always been a particularly favorite subject of mine.
-
Sikboy....
The more i think about it, my game request would simply be Dangerous Waters (if it gets to be as good as i think) with more platforms spanning from the 50's and onwards to the present. It should not be hard for them (only lots of work) to add the platforms as soon as the rest of the engine is solid.

Ooooh yes I'm with Pooh21 on this one. Fully 3D model, 1st person subjective view and a decent shooting/fencing model for boarding actions.......I want to be the Master & Commander!

mmmm...but i figure that the traditional overhead style would work best for naval engagements before the fencing begins...
as for the 3d fencing/ swordfighting models...well i always figured that attaching the end of the sword to your mouse with left click for attacks (single left click for stab, click and hold while moving for slashing style) and right click for defend, and middle for turning...not the best possible thing but it could work (best thing would be to have a fake plastic sword with the computer tracking its movements and track ir or some such to monitor your body movements)

Battle of Trafalgar and the Spanish Armada.
And of course, more importantly, Red Baron (the original) with same campaigns, style, missions etc with modern graphics. I loved that game :)

Hmmm... I'm trying to remember what sort of naval warfare occured in that time frame (beyond NGFS in southeast asia).

I'd like to see an accurate simulation of se....
Umm, ok, something historical...
I'd have to say, for video games? Console systems, I'd like to see a nicely done sword fighting game, with bow and arrow, and lots of weapons to choose from, and senarios like storming castles and manning catapults and battering rams...And work your way up to a knight, even though thats historically in accurate unless you do a great deed.
Thers one for the PS2 where your a samuri and can ride a horse, but it's not as detailed as I'd like..

Put the porn away!

I think a more sim-like rather than arcadish game based on the MechWarrior series would be pretty cool.

Late 1930's Grand Prix racing.

Large scale Civil War rts. Multiple battles, you manage everything as much or as little as you want. Similar to Sid Meier's Gettysburg, but with more and better control. Perhaps also Napolean's campaigns done the same way.

Even with the 3D upgrade for Red Baron it sucked ass.Yea,I could go for that Furball.Best WW1 sim out there was Air Warriors WW2 arena.Would be nice to see someone make one. With all the flight fans its sure to sell good as long as it wasnt like WW2 OL.:rofl

Funked,Papyrus put out a Grand Prix game that might intrest ya.Its hairy on the throttle by any means but if you can get a handle on it,and you need a wheel and pedal setup, your gonna like it.

Hypothetical of course. I want a big cluster**** in the med with SS-N-2s streaking over the ocean while Skyhawks and Phantoms tangle with Mig-21s in an epic battle for global supremacy.
I hope that Dangerous waters lives up to its potential, but I don't have a lot of faith in Sonalysts after Fleet Command. Hopefully they learned some valuble lessons about eye candy vs. a detailed database.
But Nielson could be totally right, and it could be the game I'm looking for.

Waterloo: Napoleon's Last Battle and Austerliz are both pretty good games. They are based on Meier's Gettysberg engine, but I think the interface is much better.

I'd like a total war type of strategic - tactical civil war or napoleon/early 1800's game with the formations and the flags etc etc..
Tronsky

First person shooter of Civil War would be awesome, but hard to do...
You could work your way up through the cavalry, artillery, berdans (SP?), infantry, or navy.
-
Yeah, those 20 second reloads would be a blast!
-
I would like to play global thermal nuclear war
Joshua: Would you not rather play a game of chess or checkers
No I would like to play global thermal nuclear war.
Sorry wargames was on the other day!
I think a nuke sim would be kind of cool. I'm sure there has been some in the past but one w/ today's graffics would be cool.

You've obviously never reloaded a muzzle loading gun from the civil war era..
It takes atleast 8 secs..
-
Ive shot a few muzzle loaders.I'd say 8 seconds is a bit quick.

i think a hide and go seek style game would be pretty cool...with modern graphics engines we could probably get some pretty neato outdoor levels...
oh god...i just said neato...someone smack me

Do it underpressure, on a re-enactment battle, and count 1 one thousand, other wise if you talk 1 2 3 4 it's prolly more like 14

A trained soldier in the American Civil War was expected to be able to fire three aimed shots in one minute. That is using the "load in 9 times" movements. Even by jamming the ramrod into the ground between shots for faster access it still takes far greater than 8 seconds. Now, that is assuming the soldier is equipped with the standard issue rifle using paper cartridges. I'm sure some of the single shot breech-loaders could sustain a much higher rate of fire, but they were more likely found in specialized units (Berdan's Sharpshooters for example) and alot of the Federal Cavalry had breech-loading carbines.
Heck, I've fumbled around trying to get a cap on longer than 8 seconds before. :)
-
Regardless..... I'm not waiting that long for my gun to reload. Give me whatever machine or gatling guns they had in the 1860's.

Ok ok, I did my math wrong.. No wonder i'm a soldier, most of us can't even read!
