Title: Macchi C.205 0.44 climb rate
Post by: gatt on January 04, 2000, 01:53:00 PM

Well, finally the Macchi has got the right initial climb rate: 3,250ft/min that is.
With WEP she gets about 3,700ft/min. I like it. It is historically accurate. Good job =)

A quick test show the Spit with 3,500ft/min (3,900 with WEP) and the 109G with 3,600ft/min (4,000+ with WEP).

Test altitude was about 4-5K for all the three fighters. At 10-15-20K results may vary *a lot*.

0.44 C.205(2x13mm,2x20mm) climb to 23000ft = 7'40". That's still a tad slower compared to your information, IIRC?

Uh, according to my old Omega the 0.44 C.205 (havent tried with 0.441 yet) takes 6'20" to get to 20,000ft (about 6,100mt).

100% fuel, no WEP, 2x20mm, 2x12,7mm, default best climb speed. Her climb rates to 20K range from 3,250 to 2,800ft/min. Average climb rate to 20K is about 3,100ft/min.

We know the real kite took about 7'15" to get to 7,000mt. I tried time to 22,960ft and she takes 7'28" to get there. So far it is enuff for me ....   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) After all we beta testers are not too demanding and whiners ...   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Very nice climb as I found to my surprise
last night.
Get a decent head of steam before pulling back and she'll do a 3-4k ROC with speed easily!  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
