The stutters are less for me too. But still too many to contend with on a reagular basis. I didnt see anything that Pyro disclosed that would have reduced the stuttering. But then again, we are talking about Software. :D

I had stutters last night at merge
is it the custom skins as some suggest?
is that why it is not at every merge?
-
I'm sure it was said somewhere that stutters can be caused by coming across a new skin for the first time. After that it would be OK. I would guess those who fly most often will have already come across most of the skins, and their stutters will be been mostly eliminated.
-
I had more then stutters! Had white boxes appear in some merges.
Also had the sun become a white box while setting on the runway lookin around just before take off.
Also sometimes icons turn to solid red or green bars in some views.
Seemed to lessin the longer I flew but was disconcerting all the same.

I picked up a lot of stutters, screen freezes with 37.It appears that the first time it sets up skins after patch, this is a possible cause.I also noticed that having tracers on will freeze me up real quick.IL2 does the same thing, must be universal.I can't comment on the new skins causing stutters, but I would like to say had no probs with AH1,and the graphics in AH2 simply don't rate all the problems they seem to have created.

You should more studders in this version for the first few flights. Every time you see the genertating plane texture cache dialog box, All textures will be recached. Hence more studders the first few times you play. Other than that nothing has changed in that area of the code.

Would it be possible to cache all textures as part of the installing process?
IMO the stutters are not very friendly to people who play AH2 for their first time and they will hardly believe that it will get better. That's really a "minus" for the short testers.

and if this is not possible, can we have a link to download all textures in one go - for those who want to?

Acetnt, you are mixing something up. Plane skins are made out of textures, but everything else (ground, buildings, ... etc.) has textures too and every texture has to be cached first time you see it, except those you were caching before first start (cache dialog).
-
How large is the Cache, and when is it Purged?
Which memory reosource is it using? System or Video?
Would it be allowed to fill this memory? What would happen once that occurs?

ok - my bad - but cant these be available as a seperate download so you have them locally and they dont contribute to the stutter?
