The focus will be on the American forces' assault on Fortress Europe.

German fleets will be moved out of the Channel and disabled.

Please read the MOTD when logging into the arena to see what bases have the 109G10 and P-51B available.
I will post any changes here as we go.

Hey Eddie,  this sounds like a great setup. However I can distinctly hear wailing and knashing of teeth, already many allied players are wearing sackcloth and dumping massive quantities of ash upon themselves.  Yes, yet another week without their spitfires.  My oh my what's a poor allied flyer to do???

Eddie would you consider adding the P 38 from Kingscliffe, home of the 20th FG?  It was after all available in this time period.

This may mitigate the amount of mourning and withdrawl that our allied collegues may suffer and also give eagler something else to land 7 kills in while flying around in a constant state of fuel deprviation.

Just a thought,  I like the set up fine just as it is though.

This should be an interesting set with Allied fleets enabled (I assume they are since it only says "German fleets disabled").

Spitfires dont bother me, add them if the Allies want them. Either way it looks like fun to me.

This setup is basically simulating the 'American' side of the invasion hence the lack of British/Canadian forces.   It's not to say we're not adding Spit's because it's not fair, it's just the American's vs the Germans to mimic a side for the D-Day landing.

Yeah, I saw King Kong on the Empire State building in a movie I saw in 1977 too.  But it's just not right.

FYI: the P-51D was just entering service in June.  Batz/Wotan/Brady?

I have a P38 die cast model with invasion stripes on its wings. Does that qualify it for this setup?

My guess is that any "older" planes, ie 109f, that may have been lying around and airworthy was thrown against the mighty allied war machine....

I have found this link for see Allied and Axis Aircraft and Squadron see on D-Day.

http://www.raf.mod.uk/dday/luftu.html  -  Luftwaffe
http://www.raf.mod.uk/dday/rafu.html  -  RAF
http://www.raf.mod.uk/dday/usafu.html  -  USAAF

Also, P-51D has arrive Europe in March 1944 and was finally just in time to see D-Day.  I think 359th(?) Squad equip with P-51D, has shot down couple Fw 190 on D-Day and also P-38 also see the action on D-Day, include James Doolittle flow one of the P-38 on D-Day.

Your best banner yet Arlo, good job.

As a side note, it does not say how restricted the G10 will be, but I think it should be VERY limited. Possibly add the 51D at equally limited rear bases in the UK as a counter for the G10?

I dont care either way, just trying to throw out solutions before the whines even start. :)

Here's a whine fer ya... as limited as the la la is supposed to be in the current setup I sure do see more of them that any other type.

Now about that limit thingy... is there any way to limit the number of type by the number of people playing? Say u have 10 people in what ever country, is there a way to limit the number of said airplanes to only 1 or 2? Have them enabled all over but if you already have 20% in the air then that's all u get till either someone dies in type or your numbers increase.

No.

And I've been shamelessly promoting the Yak9U. Be glad it's not taking if you're not seeing all that many. ;)

Well, as everyone knows, late war VVS sets are my favorite (NOT), but I think perks are the only effective way to limit planes, not "rear bases". I have had the good fortune to get sick last saturday and have not felt well enough to fly, which is the fortunate part. Strangely, as it gets closer to set change, I feel better and better all the time. :)

Oh yeah, Arlo is right, the 9U is da bomb-digity.

Why is anyone worried about the La 7 when you have the G-10 unlimited?  G-10 kicks ass.

Possibly add the 51D at equally limited rear bases in the UK as a counter for the G10?   Nah, make them fly the 51B, she's a damn good ride.

Oh the carnage... enjoy your la la's for your last day!

Be happy they are taking my Yak away:D

I guess Chanzz, tzr,Duke, you,and me are the only ones who know its the best plane in the set:aok

Oh wait, I' am sorry, neither do I fly here anymore nor did I realize what the "theme" was about...

It's an EXCELLENT setup, Fork, please don't change a thing.

Bah.

We do have British and Canadian players who might have liked to participate in a 60th D-Day Anniversy setup.  This sort of limited sides should really be used for non-special events.

If you really can't stand Spitfires, give the RAF the Tiffie, Mossie and Hurri IIc.

Spits are fine by me, I dont mind them at all. They are a heck of a lot easier to kill than Lgay-7's.

"We do have British and Canadian players who might have liked to participate in a 60th D-Day Anniversy setup."

Well said. No need for a Spit XIV but we could have had something from the RAF/RCAF.

Isn't that James Doolittle on that P-38?

You are correct Rafe, that is Doolittle.

And although I would very much like the setup with just the minor G10 tweak.  I would have to agree that due to the special nature of the setup the RAF/RCAF should be represented.

Sorry folks, my gaming system died on me sometime Thursday night.

Many thanks to Jester and Mister Fork for stepping in and setting up the arena for me.
Fork noted that he added the P-38L to add some variety to the mix.
G10 and P-51B are available at 3 bases each if I understood them correctly.

It appears the power supply died on my system, luckily I have one I kept as a spare.
I will have my system up and running sometime after lunch hopefully.

Karnak, you made a very valid point, and I want to apologize to our British or Canadian players.
I will add the Mossie and Typhoon later this afternoon.
That was an oversight on my part, not thinking to include British planes, and I am truly sorry.

Hey hey hey!

I think that "Doolittle" P-38, fits the criteria for skinning an AH2 P-38! The only silver P-38 I've seen without noseart, killmarkings, letters and numbers on the fuselage..!! (which means all of the troubling issues with the P-38 texture can be avoided..!!)

Anyone got a good profile pic, or info on that P-38? Side? Top? Type? Is it a 38J? 38L? Which FG or FS was it with?
