WW2: Not part of the unit because I'm doing a partisan impression atm, but one of their members invited me to see what WW2 was like, since I had such a love for it. 197th Guard http://www.197thguard.com

When I worked for an ISP, I had a coworker who was into the medevil stuff.

Funny memories, he'd be doing a tech call while hammering chain mail.  I think he and his wife got married at one of those big events, jousting n all

I understand the whole Renaissance Fair thing... It's all about the cleavage. This Civl War re-enactment stuff just baffles me. Sure, you've got the weapons aspect, but where are the boobs?

I've seen waffen reenactors use Czechoslovakian half-tracks as part of their act.  It was very impressive and immersive.  I kept wanting to evade and elude.

Dont be too shure.... Im 48 now, my hand speed is way off and I can't "throw" 12 strikes a  minute any more....... of course we have a saying "Old age and trechery will allways overcome youth and enthusiasim" ........

For the first time in my life I can afford a tin suit made by some one else and am having a custom set made for me by Sir Stephen in Albaron...... it is gonna run about 800.00 all told with my Arms  Riveted on the breast plate as reinforcing.

My doctor has been giving me Shiese over not exercizing enough so as long as I have to I might as well do something I enjoy.  and I have found my skills to be good but my stamina to be down.

And for all the Scadians out there if Yer coming to NM let me know, and I'll hook ya up, but you have to tell me "Red or Green".

Used to do some Civil War re-enactments back in 1982.  Our group was 3rd Alabama Volunteer Corps.  About 6 of us.

We would go to local re-enactments in Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida and here in Bama.  All on the actual battlefields, or what's left of them.

Never been to the big one at Gettysburg, but had some fun times.  It's basically a living history vacation with educational value for those interested in the Civil War/War Between the States.  Most of the experience is camp life and some drilling.  Had to hide the ice chests when the tourists came through camp....but after hours we could break out the cold ones.

Was going to invest about $600 in a new rifle and a clothing/uniform upgrade, but the mail order company I was dealing with wouldn't accept a personal check.  I decided it wasn't worth the trouble.

Anyway, about that time I started up with deer hunting as a replacement for re-enacting to get outdoors and seek adventure.

The purpose of re-enacting is to experience living history.  Like anything, you get out what you put in.  Some hard core re-enactors would show up with their backpacks, tent halves, food they could carry in their haversacks, and rifle.

I wasn't one of these.:D  Though I admired their spirit.

One thing I did learn was how to keep a fire going two days in pouring rain.  Our camp was the only one of about 20 that still had fire during the downpour.  Hehe, everyone was borrowing our logs.

Pretty much the entire state... Mason-Dixon line is more or less the MD/PA border or thereabouts. If Lincoln had not jailed alot of the MD legilature and installed a bunch of puppet politicians the state would have seceded. As it is, Maryland's sons fought for both sides of the war. We add the (CSA) because there was a Federal 2nd MD Infantry too.

This post kind of got me thinking. Since it will be several months till I can afford a new computer I decided to dig out my old stuff and maybe get into re-enacting again till I can come back to AH.

Done a little research on the net and found a local group to hook up with.

Am now the newest Private with the
