Im guessing it will for the family and friends of that 1000, but I think the money spent will have a deeper impact.

Nope.
Its alot of corpses and ended lives. But really it is a quite low casualty rate. 10 per day might rock the boat a little too high for the spin doctors to handle. But 2-3 per day is a very low rate or casualties.
