With the upcoming release of AH2, I have found (after a 24hr download) that my laptop does not support Hardware T&L therefore will not run AH2. I don't have a few grand to drop on a computer and until I get the bread to pick up a new desktop I'll have to find other activities like learning how to surf. This is the first 'break' in flightsimming I've had to take since I started playing Air Warrior at age 11 on AOL. Now almost 10 years later I'm upset this is road things are going...I wish I would have known about this @#^$ error message before i dropped the cash for my laptop.
See ya round boys and girls. It's been a good run so far its just a shame that computers bite the big one.

order a new computer for 300 dollars, and stop your crying.
all you need is a 1ghz with 256 megs of ram.
Here is a 2200+ amd system including EVERYTHING YOU NEED for 427 dollars. That is with the new vid card. 366 for integrated which probably wont work.

besides...recomending a 266/200 Mhz Motherboard with onboard graphics is Rude. Onboard graphics. And likely wont work.

Its the videocard...and I have not the money to purchase anything. I am living off savings and am juuuust starting to make some money but I'm scraping by while having a few hundred bucks in all my bank accounts. Adding on an MEI certificate and I have no money to spend on a computer or componenets.
A few folks I havent talked to in a while are frequent BBS browsers so thats why this post is here. I wasnt whining or crying, simply letting folks know where I went. dick.

That's a drag Golfer :( I' might not be far behind. Thought I could buy a 128 meg pci card, but they don't support DX9, so if i can't tweak this machine enough, i'll take a break for a while as well.
Plus it's summer. I'll find it hard to plop out a grand for a game I probably wouldn't be playin as much as the winter anyway, ( but hey ,winters only a month or two away up here) :) .

I guess being 20 and after moving 1100 miles while living off my savings account i'm supposed to have the bread to just drop down for a new computer...yeah.
I'll live with flying a conquest and navajo for now and just stick it out until I have a gulfstream job in a year or two.

IFFFFFFFF you want you can come on up to Connecticut and do some of my work FOR ME. I'll pay ya 200 a week and in two weeks you can have almost enuff for a sweet lil system. :D
And I'll even let you go get the coffee and lunch and things of that nature for me :D
But you can still get a computer in the end :D

I sold my cat, put the wife to work on the curb and gave up drinking and I'm going to buy a HOT dell for $1200.00 and it has the 256meg video card 3ghz p4 hope its hot enough :) ps don't believe the gave up drinking part :)

The cost of upgrading is minimal, where a new system used to cost around $2000 I purchased and built my new system for $400,
even walmart sells parts cheap now.. Golfer if you enjoy the game as much as you say you do then you will find a way just like everyone else will to upgrade their computer to todays graphic standards that will handle AH2. Even Best buy has a fricken payment plan purchase option for a new puter... Just like Office Despot and all the other computer kmarts.. Get a Dell.... Dude
Bumba just needs to quit playing with dryer lint and upgrade as well...

I got a dell dude, I just bought my notebook and have no more dell credit. It would be different if I didnt just drop over a grand on a computer...a computer that wont run the new version of the game. If i really really could afford a new computer...I really really would buy one and would really really have not posted a 'see ya later' post.

Well, I didnt take too much offense, no worries.
That motherboard does have onboard, but the 427 comes with a 5200fx. When buying crappy motherboards I always try to get them with onboard video. Easier to put in other peoples computers when I dont want them anymore. Keeping a computer up to date is all about being able to build and sell upgrades to your neighbors.
The 300 is for a 100 dollar el cheapo mb and chip combo, 75 dollars for ram, 25 for the case and ps, 50 for 20gb harddrive and 50 dollars for the 5200fx vid card. This one you have to put together yourself.

Sorry, Golfer, it sure is disappointing when our computers don't support the latest whatever we need. Good news is eventually you'll have more enjoyment with better system.
I used to complain mightily about upgrades forced by leading edge games. But I have to admit everything works better with better tools.
Hope everything works out for you and you can rejoin Aces High soon.

there is a difference between refusing to upgrade and not having the cash to drop for a new fancy desktop.
If I had the money I'd have a Gulfstream V, my own space station, an aircraft carrier, own every warbird in existance and have my own soverign nation. I'd also have a computer that would run AH2.
I'd like all those things, and I am not refusing to get them...I just can't afford them. dick.

Well, when you get yourself ahead and are ready to upgrade, check out http://www.abspc.com. These guys build some really good stuff and you get alot of bang for your buck.

I dont know golfer, I have built 3 systems in the last week that all cost less than 200 dollars (mostly used parts out of dumpsters) that all run ah2. Why do you think you need a 'fancy' desktop?
