What you do you fellas think about all the D-day celebrations goin on in france right now? Do you think it will help repair the US's relationship? Nothing brings two nations closer than remembering one of our finest hours spent together.
Another interesting note....I heard on the news that the German PM is invited to this event for the very first time. I thaught that was rather interesting.

I think the German PM should be there too, because the actions of the allies on Dday helped to bring his country out of fascism and deliver it to freedom.
-
I would hope the rememberance of this monumental event in history would bring the participating nations closer together. I wish I could have gone..would love to meet some of the survivors and pay my respects to the fallen.
-
There has never been any "bad relations". Both sides has different opinions on the invasion of Iraq, and that does not change because they remember D-day.
-
Does france celebrate D-Day as a national holiday like we do memorial day or 4th of july? Is it a big deal there? Just curious
-
France celebrates two memorial days. WW2 victory day in May and Armistice day on the 11th of November.
What D-day proves once again is that Europe and America have more in common than seperates them.
-
Belgium btw commemorates the Armistice at Ypres every evening at 5.00pm - has done so for the last 70 years - if you're ever in town you should go along....
