Post by: Sparks on June 06, 2004, 11:17:12 AM
Taxiing in after landing at Duxford seems it had an undercarriage collapse :(

BBC Report on incident (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/cambridgeshire/3780815.stm)

Jeez it seems that plane is jinxed.   These guys really need to look after this baby.

Nexx any inside news ???

Guys, sometimes things on airplanes just break. Things break on 60 year old airplanes more often than on 20 year old airplanes, but things still break.

I'll bet if you do a search, you'll find a gear collapse or two in the last few years on working airliners for major carriers.

What are you going to do? Magnaflux every single part before each and every flight?

Goes with the territory. If you want to see them fly, you're going to see some break.

I agree Toad but this particular one seems to have had more than its fair share. I'll try to look out whats gone on. It's strange - the Spitfire from the flight has been fine.

Still no injuries and should be repairable enough (ground strike check etc) so not too serious.
