Title: Host connection lost
Post by: PropNut on January 06, 2000, 08:38:00 AM
since this last update for the Voodoo cards I keep getting a "host connection lost"  message.  I never had much problem with this before but last night and this morn I have been disconnected  about 5 times. The problem is my connection with AH servers since my internet connection is still working good after the disconnect. Is anyone else seeing this problem?  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/confused.gif)  thanks

Im on a cable modem, and I got 1 right after I had installed the new optional patch. After I relogged, I got a message saying something to the affect " switching to TCP" ??? First time I have had either of these things happen to me. I also found the server very lagy for a short time last night, then everything was ok.

Had two last night, both on 44r2, my first since flying AH.  I'm on a 28.8 modem, with a TNT video.

Yup, I downloaded the   "optional update" without knowing what it was for.. I just took it.  And afterward, I too am unable to fly due to terrible pings and host connection losses.  Now the question is... is the lag caused by the update or by something extraneous?

Bad host connection tonight. Got dropped by host several times; endless warping in the air. I checked my connection with NeoTrace and, tadaa, looks like SAVVIS.NET is screwed up. Not less than 1500ms ping from there...

Ok, I hope that will be fixed soon - I am addicted to AH!

Same thing for me. Since this last version (the one before the 'optional', which I also downloaded), the connection has been horrible. Warps like I've never experienced in AH before, lag kills, getting pinged from planes that to my view are at impossible angles. I'm looking at the entire top view of a plane at the same time as taking on damage. Consistantly. For almost 7 straight days now, my routine has turned into logging on, engaging,  yep -  same situation, logging off. Very frustrating.

I check in a couple times a day everyday for a 1/2 hr to see if it's straightened out. Hopefully it will before it goes pay to play. If not, I'm afraid I'll have to hold off and wait for word that it's improved - which sucks. I don't think I have a choice though - it really *has* been near impossible for me. I'm still planning on signing up the second it goes pay if this improves.

Btw, trace routes, ping times, and packet loss to the server has been fine, as always. ADSL, and green beacons. Also, the problems I describe have *only* been since this last version. AH had been the most trouble free online sim I've ever played. I'm at a loss here.

I should add that it could easily be the net in general that's gone bad lately. Correlation between the latest version and these problems could be pure coincidence.

However, it just seems strange. For example, unlike popeye who normally got 160ms and who is now in the 1500's, my traceroute's highest number was 172, averaging at around 100ms. Before this version, I averaged in the 70's. Not too big a difference for me...yet... I just ran this test 5 mins ago. 5 minutes before that I got killed by a pony (I thought I was chasing) at d1.9 out. Connection test says fine, the arena says differently. This same thing is happening to a few other people in my squad (connection fine, impossible to play).

I'm entering into the initial stages of a full-blown withdrawl here. I'm getting the shakes. I *need* to be able this fine sim. Net Gods, if you are listening to my cries - HELP!

Who has aggrivated the Net Godz, well, I downgraded my WB account to $9.95 per month and will fly probably all of my 5 hours in a squad meeting tomorrow.

So, being unable to fly Aces High, I have taken the opportunity to download the latest version of DOA.  Lets at 19 meg at 1.6 kbps per second, about 3 years!!!!

Whomever got the  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) with the 3?'s over the head, how did you do that???

I had bad conx too, beacon city all the time.
After several relogging, I checked my route to HTC.
160-400ms, stable pings, so the problem could be somewhere else ?
I hope this is temporary server problem...

Savvis.net has hated me from the beginning...

can't seem to ever have less than a 300 ping time, generally closer to 500

As to the watching the top of the plane that kills me,, thats a common occurence...

Just like watching the shells from an incoming plane going far left of me, but pinging me to death....

sigh....
