Title: 262 engines hit the ground on takeoff?
Post by: Wilbus on June 10, 2004, 04:10:45 AM
Tried to take off with the 262 online, every time I did as I normally do in AH, keep it on the ground till I reach about 140-160mph then deploy some flaps and get airborne.

However, I never got that far, around 100mph one of the engines seem to magicly hit the ground and die, I had my plane straight forward, no yaw effect and besides the engine are quite a bit above the ground so even with alot of rudder turn they shouldn't hit the ground.

I finally got up (on my 7:th or so try) by giving full flaps right after I started rolling then, at about 100mph, rigth before the engines had died before, I pulled stick back and held it on the rear wheels for a few seconds before it finally got slightly above the ground, after that I just had to get my speed up enough to go nose down and retract flaps.

One more thing, it seems to Yaw to the right in the early stages of tke off, should it?

you got the perkies for 7 262s in ah2 already! wow! what are you doing man?

Anyway -the yaw to your right was the engine self destructing.
seems the 234 had / has the same issue with the engines.

Seems with pay to play plane...your ground crews not doing that good of a job :)

Known bug reported back in B36 that hasn't been fixed yet.

Also "ran across" this on landing last night, 262 engine kill.   Something is "on" the runway we can't see. Have also lost prop on regular planes  to it on landing.

234 I have mentioned a few times in past also takes the hit - you have to use the grass on side of runway.

It's probably the sheep wandering out in front of aircraft. I hit one myself the other day in a prop plane and wondered what the heck was happening, as the takeoff was pro forma up to the sudden violent reshaping of my prop. At least my crew got a nice mutton stew out of it. Did your jet engine spew any wool after the reported collision?

Right Engine Failure stopped after doing a reduced thrust T/O (7k-8k RPM) Once airborne, then I went to military.

hmmm...could it be 'ground crew suck?'

or a foreign object left on the intake... a wrench, a spanner? a bowl of mutton stew?

If it is a sheep - I say we definately need a "sheep splat" sound effect.
"baa zzzfffffffffffppppppp!!!! splat"

I noticed it with the 234 - i'm sure someone else has mentioned that already.

Save your perks? Fly what the plebs fly for the time being. If your uber enough to have the perks for 7 262s you don't need the advantage. :D
