Title: Training Arena Problems
Post by: Trooper69 on June 10, 2004, 11:18:31 PM
Fuseman seems to have a problem with other trainers being in the training arena when he is.  I was allowing some trainees to practice vultching, on me, and fuseman banned me from the training arena. I can't be a very effictive trainer if I can't get with my cadets.

Vulching isn't permitted in the training arena. This is especially the case at field A1 where the vast majority of pilots usually are or really at any other field where pilots complain that they're being strafed. You also may not engage anyone in the TA without asking first. I'm guessing one of these was the case and Fuze did his job in trying to keep some order in the TA. I'm quite sure he warned you first. You--uhh--didn't listen did you? Read the MOTD. That's simple enough.

Question tho trainer dude. What exactly is it you're attempting to train your guy to do?

sorry to but in, but in the TA ie (Training arena) you cant die, therefore you cant be vulched. So what is wrong with him letting them vulch him. Mostlikly teaching them how to aim thats all. So whats the big deal???? I dont see one...

LOL however that is funny

Ive had countless people try and "vulch" me in the TA reguardless if i was helping them or not. I would just ask them politely to stop and they would.

Now granted I havent flown in a while, but since when were you unable to shoot down planes in the training arena?  I think I remember that the lethality of the bullets was reduced, but you could still shoot others down.

You have to admit though Trooper gets points for training his cadets how to vulch.  We need more trainers like him.

Trooper,

Might  I suggest before you try to train someone in the TA that you might read the rules first?

Fuze was clearly correct in removing you from the arena.

Second, while we appreciate any help we get I do have to remind you that fuze is a AH "certified" trainer. He is there to help & also police the area.

As such any warnings from him or any other trainer should be acted on immediately.

Sling, try the last year. Your just a smidge out of date bro.

Bigb717,  the problem with vulching goes back to long before the settings were changed. TA used to be full of "vets" who spent their time vulching new people off the runway, or just after they went wheels up.

They never were able to get airbourne, & learn how to fly.  Its a black spot on our history, and as such we are still touchy about it.

Call it a respect issue.

If your in trying to work on a new plane or move with a friend. Would you want people constantly bombarding you on the runway, or in the air?

AH Trainer corp lead.

Although against the rules and im certian that the police are going to argue this point. Id be willing to bet that if you and your trainies were to have moved to a remote field isolated from the main group before ever starting this vulch session. You would have never been bothered. While vulching is "Against" the rules. The TA is mainly designed to create a mutual agreement of the Shooters and the Shootie. :)
Its all about maintaining the Peace in the TA. Controlled learning.

I really do not see a point in this being brought to the bulletin board, other than to get people all riled up.

The Training Arena has had a long colorful career.  It has taken the efforts of many dedicated people to get that arena to the state where it can be helpful to new players.
The current training staff has done a great job of keeping it that way.  Long gone are the threads that complained about the Training Arena being a terrible place for new people.

If you do not like the way a situation was handled in the Training Arena, you can always drop an email to us.  Dragging it to the bulletin board is completely inappropriate.

I was trained to always ask before shooting in the TA.  If you had permission to shoot at someone, and they agreed to let you vultch them then why is someone butting in?  I told the guy he could take a few runs at me on the ground, to learn to vultch without augering. He had permission to practice shooting at me, no one else, and I got baned for letting him.

P.S. The warning given by fuseman was  "Jcase cut the crap." Three seconds later I got a "HOST CONNECTION LOST" banner.

Come to think of it, you're right. Whats the point of posting my problems on the "BB"?  I'm just one gamer who was trying to help another.  If that is not allowed, I think it should be posted somewhere. If fuseman would have asked, told, me to move to another field I wouldn't have anyway, because he was rude and crappy to me to begin with. Thats why I said in my first post that he seemed to have a problem with other trainers in the TA at the same time as him.  I'm not trying to be disrespectfull with this, but if fuseman is "a certified trainer" there needs to be some adjustments made to the selection prosess, or some rules that trainers go by to controll thier conduct and attitude. If the guy would have been nice about the vultching thing and asked me politely I would have stoped, but he did not, he just kicked me out. So as far as bringing this issue to the "BB" I'm sorry. I didn't know it was for certian topics and not others.

There is no help in what you are saying in this thread.  It is only flaming someone you had/have a disagreement with and cannot be resolved on a bulletin board.
