Anybody remember this song? I heard a band do this one at a "Teen Battle of the Bands" recently. I was impressed that teenagers would find this song compelling. I don't remember how old it is but its nice to see a classic recognized...
We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that we worship will be gone.
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings its song.
I tip my hat to the new Constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play,
Just like yesterday,
Then I get on my knees and pray...
We don't get fooled again.
The lyrics are from memory - sorry if I mangled them a bit. They just don't write stuff like this anymore, do they? Or do they?

Who wrote that song?
Who? :)
-
It's used for the theme of CSI Miami.
-
The Who - Doctor, Doctor :aok
-
Who could it possibly be?
Let's have an honest answer, because I am hoping I won't get fooled again.
-
the whole album rocked, one of my all time favorite albums.
-
and no, they do not write music today as they once did
-
WHO may have recorded the song, but WHO wrote it?
Yes.
No, not YES. WHO.
That's what I said, WHO wrote the song.
Yes.
No.
Whataya mean "no"? Yes.
WHO wrote the song.
I dunno.
I'm tellin ya WHO wrote the song.
OK then, so tell me, who wrote teh song?
WHO.
Yes.
Not YES, WHO.
I give up.

We don't get fooled again
The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!
I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?
There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

Always had a hard time knowing the "title" of their songs.
For years I thought Baba O'Riley was called Teenage Wasteland.

Seriously? Vocals and all or just an instrumental version?
Part of me thinks that's disgraceful; almost as much as Cadillac employing Led Zeppelin to shill for them. OTOH its a great tune; maybe it's not such a bad thing to divert some of the masses' attention onto great music that was before their time.

I remember when I was a kid listening to all the drivel that passed as music on TV shows and commercials. I often wondered why they didn't use music that was popular? Now I know, they ruin the song forever after it's been used.
