In World War II, Which U.S. Service had the highest casualty rate?

United States Army, Marines had it bad in the Pacific but not near as bad as the Army in Europe. Also remember the Air Force was at this time part of the Army, and 1 in every 10 US servicemen that died in WWII was a member of the 8th Air Force.

"Merchant Mariners" suffered the highest casualty rate of any of the branches of service while they delivered troops, tanks, airplanes and fuel. About 9,300 mariners were killed. 1 in 26 mariners serving aboard merchant ships in World WW II died in the line of duty, suffering a greater percentage of war related deaths than anyl other U.S. service,

Well said.

The answer was United States Army Air Force or USAAF, but since both of you talk about US "Merchant Mariner" has highest casualty rate than any US Military Service in WWII.

XtrmeJ is correct about US Merchant Mariner and AdmRose is also correct for USAAF, so both of you are correct.  Congrats   :aok
