Title: Did WW2OL borrow the idea of sheep from Aces High.
Post by: SunKing on June 15, 2004, 12:13:14 AM
I've been playing WW2OL alot lately and noticed the same affection to sheep in the other game. Curious where that came from.

Darn Brit slaughtered all the witnesses!

The flightsim sheep fetish predates AH too :)  I think it goes back to the old AW days, mid - early 90s ?  I began flying in 95 on AW aol with a mouse... I dont remember seeing sheep though. =]

1. The sheep was mounted
2. Caressed
3. And then shot, typical.

folks, the bar has been raised, and once again, the australians lead the way in these matters:

Will someone rise to the challenge?

Sheep were located at every AW airfield.  If you shot them in later versions (earlier unknown, i never tried) you'd hear a 'baaaahhaahh' as you flew past

The earliest link between wool and flight sims that I'm aware of, is DoK's Musical Tribute to the Aggressor Squadron (which is just as relevant today as it was 10 years ago).

Sheep didn't originate in B-land, they were just perfected there. Everyone coveted our sheep.

Our squad always prefered Red Headed Midget Women, Tho I never partook. Don't listen to what our chaplain says tho ;)

turn on your clutter in game and bail out while flying a bomber in 3rd persion view and when you get on the ground, you can get 'close and personal' with the sheep.

Is that going to be available to the public Dinger?

Or is that the full-on military version?

Know anything about OFP2?    I saw a really crappy vid taken at E3 last year, but havent heard much since.

BTW, I think I used to work at that place in that vid......it looks scarily like about 90% of  outback sheep stations really look like......all it needs is heat haze, 'roos hopping slowly along the fenceline and a crow somewhere Karr!!Karring his stupid head off.

Looks great anyway.

Bluedog, you can buy it now from Bohemia Interactive Australia. The core costs a mere $140 US, and "nicely equipped" (OPFOR, various maps, USMC, US SF, ADF, and so on) it runs over $500 US. Still, people and not just militaries are buying it.
I wouldn't purchase it, of course, nor would I recommend to any other OFP fan that they purchase it. That's a big-ass chunk of change.
Oh yeah, and it's only for sale to private individuals outside of North America (Coalescent Technologies Corp. has the NA license).

In spite of the fact that they haven't been posting screenshots, I do have it on good authority that OFP2 is in active development.

Oh yeah, and Kangaroos:

So whats up with that VBS1?

A training tool?

I saw the sheep getting blown away....
Is it a FPS, or have the option?
