You're just having a hard time seeing though all of the oil that has just splattered across your canopy.

Also, the gunnery thing has been talked about a good deal in the forum. This thread has some good stuff in it.

Hey...there is just enough to see for making it home. Only the landing needs a bit more attention. But in AH2 landing always needs a bit more attention as in AH1.
Be happy that you wasnt wounded because when you heavily black out you loose stick control.
:D
Your gunnery sucks? No problem...almost everyones gunnery sucks. Your not alone. Use of rudder affects much more where the bullets go than in AH1. Try to shoot when the rudder is straight. The rest comes with practise.
I also suck in AH2.
As HiTech said: Its a new game. And i love all the new goodies and hope HTC will stand like a rock despite the fact that a couple of RR players switch back to counter strike or wherever they came from. It starts to become a real simulation. Only the new burn rate is a real pita.

Take a look in this thread, no need to read all posts in there, just scroll down to where Pyro post two pics of different oil leaks, take a closer look at the second one then be happy that it is the way it is in AH ;)

It would be cool if they had a few different version of the oil leak, like a lighter one for minor engine damage, or a massive one for engine taken out totaly.

texture proportional to the actual leak would be best, yes.

Same with fuel tank leaks, if things haven't changed, they still display as big a trail when full as when empty.

I have a RL picture of a P47 that took a hit in the engine and lost its oil. It appears to be spray painted black all the way to the tail. If anything, this makes the effect in AH2 seem way milder than RL.

I've also read accounts of pilots who had to fly in formation with their wingman all the way to the runway because they could not see out the canopy due to oil.

One way to avoid this is to fly multiengine aircraft.:lol

The formation thing works.  I've had wingies take me to final 3 or 4 times now.

Sure wish I could avoid the dang bullets in the first place.  Getting WAY to good at  landing shot up birds.:(
