Why are there no American Tanks in AH anyways?
We have the best of the best of the best as far as planes go.
A new tank would be fun IMO. I like to GV once a month or so.
-
Is that the Tank Destroyer model that Audie Murphy was serving on when he won the CMH while defending a crossroads?:)

Nah, I think Audie was on damage Sherman Tank while firing M2 .50 against German troops.

That was hollywood I was talking real world, I think Murphy was defending a crossroads while sitting in Armored car or a Tank destroyer for 1-2 days when he was recommended for the CMH;)

because the main tank used by the US was so outclassed by the panzer that it would be a turkey shoot for the guy with the panzer not counting what the planes could do to the Sherman
that tank in the pic would have to be perked like the tiger is perked maybe less if its inferior
-
The Tank in the picture (actually a "tank killer") was a match (or more) for the PzKfw-IV but could not stand toe to toe with the Tiger-I. The problem with the US tank killer designs in AH is that they were open topped. This was not a big issue with near total allied control of the air in Europe after D-Day but in AH these things could be wiped out by a 202.

Ill put it straight. American tanks was scrap, trash.
The tremendus losses american crews had its still not well known,
its a shame & crime lost & hidden under the glory of the victory.
Some had to go to prison for their wrong choises, but they was
saved under the brilliant lights of the victory.

Not quite true IIRC: they were enclosed but they had no roof armour (i.e. the top was just metal sheeting not armour).
The US tank destroyers were quick, manueverable and well gunned but were generally lightly armoured.
I think one of the upgunned Shermans would be a better choice, with an M26 as a perk vehicle.

M18 Hellcat - hell yeah. These things just *look* cool. I would love to do a little shoot n scoot with the new terrain :)

Well we aren't (at least I am not) talking about real life here. If you die you get a new tank and a new life.
How well does an M8 do against a Panzer going head to head with it? Not well at all. but we still have them and they are still FUN and allow for a different "venue" in terms of GVing.
I am POSITIVE HiTech & Co. can find a suitable American Tank to add to the set.
Lastly, I am American. I fly mostly american planes. Call it a 'sentimental' thing I guess. That would be the only way I would put it. Its just like Taki and his squad choose to fly all Japanese planes for the most part. I am sure they do it for some of the same reasons I do. For that reason, good or not, I would like to have an American Tank. I honestly think its a bit odd we do not already have one that can go head to head in the game with a panzer or at least stand a fighting chance against it.

Top one is the M-18 Hellcat, the best TD of the war, bar none. 65 mph road speed, 76mm shooting HVAP ammo. German tankers feared this little monster more than the Sherman Firefly. There are stories of these thing tearing through gaggles of Panthers like mad dogs. Impossible to track once they start their dash, it had a stabilized gun and gained many kills while racing flat-out cross country.
Lower vehicle is the M-36 Jackson. Basically a seriously up-gunned M-10. It's 90mm could kill anything it encountered.
Both were used from ambush to great success. The Hellcats used "shoot and scoot" tactics to perfection. Of all allied armored vehicles deployed to the ETO, the Hellcat had the best kill to loss percentage prior to the M-26 showing up in 1945. I read the memiors of an M-18 gunner, who described the TDs ability to maneuver behind a Jagd Panther thru sheer speed, pumping a HVAP round into it rear before the German crew could figure out where it had disappeared to.
Having thin armor, the Hellcat would never fight a straight up duel. Instead, they simply raced around the enemy and "hit him where he wasn't".
For all its success in the war, I don't see it being used as intended should HTC include it. Most guys haven't the patience to sit in ambush. Both it and the M-36 would be terrific spawn campers tho. And with the Hellcat's speed, it would very hard to hit, even over open ground. However, if HTC models its stabilized gun, it would be deadly, even at full speed.
My regards,
Widewing

Actually the M8 can do quite well if you stay moving and learn to run N gun on the move.
I often take particular delight in running around in an M8 and popping the turrets on panzers then moving on to the next while friendly armor moves up to finish em off.
I dont get the kill but I know it must aggrivate the hell outa some people:D

Audie Murphy was infantry, not a tanker.

Audie Murphy was a Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army, Company B 1 5th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division. While in a battle near Holtzwihr France, 26 January 1945, 6 German tanks and 250 Infantrymen approached. Being greatly outnumbered, Audie ordered his men to pull back. Audie called in artillery on the approaching enemy but did not stop them.
Audie decided to take action. Near his position was a burning M-10 tank destroyer. Audie climbed on top, and turned the machine gun on the approaching Germans. As Audie fired from the burning tank, the artillery began to land in earnest and the German advance faltered. For almost an hour, Audie continued to lay down fire on the Germans. When he ran out of ammunition, he dropped into the snow and discovered he had been wounded, his third, in the leg. Enemy soldiers lay dead just 10 yards from the tank destroyer.

He forgot the P-26 Pea Shooter , and that should give you perks just for flying it :D

what was the name of that german bomber used in the war for sinking ships i think it had four engines

Not quite true IIRC: they were enclosed but they had no roof armour (i.e. the top was just metal sheeting not armour).
The M10 (tank destroyer) was completely open on top like the Marder was, although the Marder was also open to the rear and had no turret :D The German infantry had a nasty habit of attacking them with simple hand grenades, made possible from their extensive experience in fighting armor with infantry out in the East. That is why the M18 had some metal on the roof, stil easily strafed to death in the MA.
The latter Shermans (Easy8 and Firefly) were at least equal to if not better than the MarkIV, yet still outclassed by the Panther, at least in the armor department. The M26 was more than a match for the Tiger-I, how many of them actually saw combat?

Well I think if you get that thing the we should get the churchill, also the reason there isn't an allied tank to match the germans is because in real life they were so much better at making tanks than us!! On average it took four shermans to take out a tiger!

fw200.
make that a new goon. our ship ack is to strong to even think of bring that to AH2.
-
I think those tanks would make a great addition to AH2. It would be nice to see some American armor in there, along with the T34 tank.
Also being the ground pounders we are HTC needs to seriously think about adding LTAR's favorite, The Wirbelwind
