just got into the world of pirates (http://worldofpirates.4players.de/wop/main_en.html) beta test, basicly from the about page its similar to most pirates! type games only massivly multiplayer, gonna be good while it lasts...once i actually play i'll put up some first impressions but it should be at least better than EVE was

I find it quite good.
I always found online RPG boring because the player doesn't have to have any skill...everything happens with the 'skillz' of the character.
Here, at least during cannon fights, you have to sail the boat, try to stay upwind, aim and fire etc...Agreed it's extremely simplified but it allows you to take on a much bigger NPC ship if you know what you're doing.
OTOH, sword fights are pretty lame and must be completely re-thought IMO.
Another downside is the lack of online players...4-10 players online at the same time. I've maybe seen a PC ship twice.
My handle is DeMalte. I'm french in-game (to please Saw ;) ). I'm not an intensive player because I only play it when I feel a AH burnout coming.

allright then, 47mb download though, wont be able to play till tommorow after i download it.
honestly the sworfight model thing looks like standard PIRATES! type, so it shouldent be to bad...long as it isnt like the terrible fencing model in summer games 2

Just signed up for the Beta test myself and am waiting to hear back. Hopefully I can get in there as well. It looks like a fun deviation from the flight/war simulations I have been playing for the last 15+ years.
