Title: How many Active AH squads form AWDOS?
Post by: Sikboy on June 16, 2004, 03:34:53 PM
The CAF thread had me wondering:

How many active AH squads draw their origins from AWDOS? We have the Damned, CAF, 13th TAS, Muskateers, Shills... who am I leaving off?

The Gunfighters. I joined them in '94 but they were around long before that. Some of you might remember some of the more (in)famous Gunfighters DeadDuck, Wolfman, Cookie, LoneWolf, Grok, Rabid, and of course AH's own Pyro.

Although I only recently restarted the squad a couple months ago in AH (CT only), since I was in them back in AWDOS, the current GF's probably meet your requirements.

I thought I saw that HiTech had the FUBARS over here too didnt he?

HardRock has the *AD*'s, Airwarrior Degenerates over here too, but they are not very active.

Heater and I were 2 of the original Gun Fighters when the squad was founded in AW.

Now if I could only get Hoppy and Phonix in the AH FUBAR'S, still talk to those guys on ocasion.

I believe the Krait Squadron goes back to AWDOS days - formed in 1992 anyway.   (I joined the squad in July 1998)   :D

When was that? I came in at the very end and I never heard any history about the squad before I got there. I've tried to get DD to join the new GF's in AH but so far I have not been successful. He says he is having too much fun in some other role playing game, I forget what it is. It just doesnt seem like a legitimate Gunfighters without DD on the roster.

Would love to see those guys myself. Been over 13 years since AW with them, lost touch then too.

The DOW (Dawgs Of War) were in AWDOS. I joined the squad back in 91/92. Was known as SCD then. I still have a list with
my CPID someplace.  :)

Hey SCD! I remember talking to you in AW  back then about living in Alamogordo, I lived at White Sands Missle Range from '81-'83. I was there when Challenger had to divert and land there because Edwards AFB had too high winds.

The Damned have been constantly active since 1989.

Grits...last I heard, DD was playing EverQuest and he wasn't wearing tights...it was a dress :D.

HT, Pho and Hoppy were the reason I stayed in AW after my first burnout. I really don't think I have ever had as much fun doing this as when they were playing :).

We started in AW-DOS, then to WB's and now here.  Well... sort of.  Everybody got bored about with AH about six months ago and started flying IL-2.

I don't know if I can get them back...

What NB's saying is that some of us remember watching "I Love Lucy" before it got syndicated and went to re-runs :)

Nightmares don't go that far back although bunch of our members do. Nightmares formed in 1996 .. forget which version of AW that was. Basically were in AW from then until the end in 2002. Nightmares been in AH from 2000 to now.

I flew back with the Pain Squad in AWDOS and then 13th TAS in the next iteration.

Yeah, thats it City of Heroes.  They were talking about it on Bigweek, and as soon as I realized it was not a flight sim my eye's glazed over and I stopped paying attention. Apparently you make up your own "guy" who has special "powers" and you wander around a futuristic city looking for other "guys" with different special "powers", then you sit down with them and have a cappucino.

Grits...

If I remember correctly ( which ain't a given :)), DD suffers from vertigo or something similar that makes playing flight sims with very real graphics a problem for him.
