I downloaded the 43 to 44 beta patch, it installed without incident.
I relogged, and it said I needed to update (I'm presuming 44 to 45) where I accidentally hit no. After being returned to the main screen, I again selected online, and it said I still needed to update (woohoo, goody for Me), however, upon selecting yes, it returned me to the main menu. Numerous tries failed. So, I manually installed beta patch 44 (thanks hitech for having the game leave all these patches in my director), and whatcha know? It worked. So that's the fix. Reinstall it.
