Title: multi-player household/billing
Post by: Skorpyon on January 09, 2000, 04:38:00 AM
My son and I both enjoy AH.  We have 2 computers, and two phone lines, all in the same house.  For both of us to play simultaneously once pay-for-play is started, would we have to pay for two accounts, or will one master account support other "dependent" account(s)?  If seperate accounts, I can see we won't get any airtime together.. heh.  $$$

Wow......the question is a bit on the harsh side don't you think?  If I get a game room with 15 computers set up, would I have to pay for one account?  I don't think so......
Setup your home computers with Win98 on a lan.  You and your son can fly against each other and won't have to pay a dime.  I really don't think people realize what the margin of profit is in gaming.  I can only hope that Pyro and Hitech never get pissed to the point they throw harsh comments to the people who don't understand this.....

We have desinged our billing system to handle multiple users on 1 account. We have yet to determine what the rate will be for additional users one an account.

Thorns.. shame, shame..I only hope they don't get harsh when people jump to conclusions without seriously thinking about alternative policies...  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) ... And HT, thanks for the info.  I was hoping for something like that.  Thorn, a good example of what I was asking about is my current ISP.  Rather than charging full price for each user to simultaneously connect, I pay 19.95 flat for my main access, plus an extra 10.00 for the second user.  This way we can both go online at the same time, and the ISP isn't just "giving it for free".  I would never pay another 19.95 for this "dual user account", but the extra 10 bucks is reasonable, for both me and the ISP.. everyone wins.  And as for the LAN thing, we will be able to go head to head for free eventually anyway, whether by LAN or simply dialup on our dual user account.  What I wanted was for us to both be able to fly as wingies on a combat mission.. together, as a pop and son team.  We already do this with other games, and it is a lot of fun, not to mention a frequent surprise for people when they find out the two guys kickin their butts are father and son and playin from the same house..  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/cool.gif)

It is certainly an option to consider.  My AOL account allows 5 screen names. But it wont allow multiple connections.  I guess if you get to have 2 accounts in the same home, that might be a cool thing. I have 2 phone lines. AOL won't allow me to connect twice, but it will allow me 5 names.
Go figure......
