Could you please make Squad/Tuned channel bias over range range.
For instance when one guy is talking over squad/tuned channel please have range "cut off" . This would only effect the folks on squad channel or the channel they have are tuned to.
Right now theres so much irrelevent (at least to me) non-sense over range that its difficult to communicate with squaddies.
I know you dont want to allow range to be squelched but absent that is it possible to bias squad/tuned vox channels?
After 5 min of listening to some guy talk about a drawer hose I have about had it with range channel. :p

Yep, as it stands I've got a /.squelch macro, but Wotan's idea would save me some hassle.

You couldn't voice squelch him after a minute or two? :D

/.squelch arlo

isnt that what AH1 did? at least for me, range would be compressed out, kind of like "ducking" in recording when a squaddie tuned to our vox channel keyed up.
is it the opposite in AHII now?

Actually it was more then one guy in the conversation.
It sounded like the cast of Deliverance got together to talk about "wursher s" and such.
"Ya'll sher gots a purty mouth..."
The next sortie I squelched everyone on the range list. The thing is the same "folk" think range channel is the "check 6" channel. Half of them sound like that dude from king of the hill "Boomhauer" has swallowed his mic. They seem to have forgotten all about the "check 6" button.

That's because there's generally 3 or more friendly cons near the guy who needs his six checked in most furball situations and they all get tagged first more often than not. This leads to the habit of using manual check sixes in all situations. If you don't like the way the guy sounds, yeah ... squelch away.
As far as range channel chat sessions are concerned ... didja ever think of politely asking the "annoying as hell" range chatters to leave range channel open so you could only be annoyed by check six calls? :D

If I could get a word in I would.
I have the check 6 button mapped to me stick. It doesn’t take any time to cycle through to warn some one.
Not every one speaks English anyway.
But this thread isn't about you. I just asked a simple question about biasing squad/tuned channel over range.
You haven’t mentioned the topic once. If you are just looking for someone to talk to then there's 4 guys in the CT that are just bored enough to chat it up.

You're upset that other players chat on range. You want HT to code squad channel to over-ride range channel. Hey, I'm with ya all the way. Don't get your panties in a wad. I've given you more than one reasonable suggestion here to deal with it until you get your desperate wish. All you're doing is finding additional excuses to whine about it (the way other people talk annoys me - why can't they use the check six button?!). Geez. :lol
-
You haven't suggested any thing on topic. When theres a lot of chatter on range the folks on squad / tuned channels can't communicate.
As I said you must be lonely and need some one talk to...
Either that or the Deliverance reference hit close to home.
Or a little of both?

Everything I suggested was on topic. Whether you found it practical for your needs may be another matter. As is your opinion of how lonely I am or my personal like/dislike for your Deliverance analogy ... which looks more like I accidently touched a raw nerve with ya and you're projectin' a bit there, partner. :D

We can make the thread about you if you want....

who cares?
back to the topic,
A priority value for each channel would be great.

Never heard of it. :D

To jump in here I get so flippin tired of Channel 1 and Range channel conversation that I honestly wish AH Voice were still an outside program that had to be run like it did way back when it was in testing. This way you could use other program like the old BattleCom or Team Sound/Team Speak (whatever it is now) and be able to map out channel switches with your keyboard and such. To me that was much easier and you could control who got on your server and the people on your server. Hell if I want to chat I will go sit in the tower and type instead of talking about it on the "radio".
So in a way I agree with Wotan/Batz but I tend to /.squelch everyone after a little while.
-
I once (by accident) blocked AH voice with a firewall. That was a long time a I don't know the port number (actually I think it was a range).
-
And to pull back to the topic of the thread in BattleCom and Team whatever you can assign priority to certain channels. Within those programs the master channel could broadcast out over all the channels and cut in on whatever conversations were happening on them. This allowed whoever was on the master channel (aka command) to make changes on the fly and also kept the groups who wanted to talk and fly away from everyone else.
Oh well enough reminiscing now get back to text sparring in the thread boys.

Well it is impossible to please everyone. The 'check 6' button doesn't work very well at all - I place the mouse pointer over the intended target and the warning goes to some other guy - then he is annoyed with me for giving him a false call. Meanwhile I get chewed out for not giving check 6 calls to some guy because 1) the above occurred, 2) I was in such a position that I couldn't let go of my controls to manipulate the mouse to 'check 6' him.
SO - I go get a mic and start using the range vox to give short, susinct check 6 calls. Now I find out that Wotan finds this annoying too. So Wotan, if I'm hanging inverted in my straps in a fight and see in the corner of my screen that you have picked up a bandit, do you want me to give you a '6' call on the range mic or not? I'm not letting go of my stick to fumble for the mouse pointer to give a warning that will likely go to the wrong plane anyway.
Perhaps using the radio in realistic disciplined manner - short, clear, important messages, rather than as a chat line, would be a reasonable compromise that most of us could live with?

What mouse pointer? You simply cycle through to the guy you want using a button. Once he is hi-lighted stop cycling and the 6 call goes automatically.
If you call my 6 over vox I won’t hear you. So don’t even bother. Unless my squaddies or friends are on I just resorted to turning the sound all the down. As far as I am concerned a vox check 6 is no 6 call at all. Besides they are many folks who play that don’t even speak English. How about some courtesy and at least figure out how to use the 6 call button?
My preference would be to make range channel "squelchable" then others can chat it up all they want with out disrupting squad / tuned channel.
HT has said he doesn't want to do that. So as a compromise I asked that squad and tuned channels be biased over range.
When some on squad channel or tuned channel hits his mic key then all the folks on the squad channel / tuned channel have range "cut-off" while the mic key is held. This way everyone can hear who they are tuned to rather then the general chat on range.
The new “vox marker” on the clipboard is a good function. When you can’t hear what the guy on squad / tuned channel is saying you can’t be of much help to them.
-
Wotan - thanks for pointing out the new check6 functionality. I was not aware of it as I took a 3 year break from AH, and the old 'point with a mouse' technique was the only one available then. I will familiarize myself with the new technique. Seems a shame though, to now have voice and still need to use buttons to simulate a radio call.

Why thank ya, Newbie. I didn't really figure a shrine would be erected but Wotan's been using a rather outdated pic everytime he feels threatened and I figured I'd give him a slightly more up-to-date one to use for that tactic.
Back to the topic at hand, though. You probably won't get all that many check six calls off vox, Wotan. Your distaste for regional accents outside the 12 block radius of your house won't be perceived as a problem to the guy trying to be helpful. I can surely understand not wanting to hear some player go on and on about their new pickup flaps or the latest political polls for twenty minutes but we apparently have two different methods of dealing with the situation. I didn't think my suggestions to you in the matter would unhinge ya any (still not sure what all that hissy was about). But like I said, I'm all for the change you suggested. I'm just not as devastated by the current state of affairs.

Im guessing the reference to deliverance is what did it!!
After getting stuck in a range channel reach of the lawn mower engine repair club chat in AH the other day, I understand the question..
IKON
-
Arlo you still haven't addressed the topic. Its not "how do I not hear range channel". Its "how can we communicate on tuned channel while alot of chatter is on range."
Even your 'ole pal Reschke understands want I am talking. So do several others.
Your suggestion to "ask them to be quiet" or the "hmm, ever heard of squelch" is just you wanting attention. It has nothing to do with the question I posed.
This thread isn't "Hey tardlo, whatcha think of this..."

Mmmmmright. No, brother ... they were actually meant as helpful suggestions to help you get by until (if) your recommendations are given creedence. Simple ... reasonable. And it really pissed you off for some bizarre, known but to Wotan, reason. But not like that's never happened before.
Anyway ... you're welcome. Cool idea and all. Hope it pans out. Hope you get better.
Check six, Wotan.

I asked for your help?
Maybe you misread the thread.....
I didn't need arlo's help, or his 6 call...
Wasn't too bad tonight. The hillbillies ended up at a5 I augered and went to a53 / a9. Had a blast.
Brady and and few old squadmates was enough to keep my 6 clear. I cant say I returned the favor being a bit "rusty" and all, but a good time had by all....

WOW this thread sounds just like channel1 heheheh:lol

going to channel 200 LOLOL :lol

HAH I know exactly who you are talking about, he calls everyone "fella" , like 30 guys are supposed to know who hes talking to, and that voice, wow right outta the cartoon. This is funny I thought I was the only thinking I was flying with the King of the Hill cast.
-
lol I think I know too.
If its the one I'm thinking about, he called me Ester one time.

Hey ... don't fret. No charge, Woe-tan. Glad you found your comfort zone tonight. :aok :D

I have my check 6 turned off because people get to happy with the check 6 button & keep giving it to the wrong person. Also I noticed people will give you a check 6 so they can get you to turn to steal your kill. As this thread has gone off course, I must say it would be nice if tuneable channel overroad range channel.
