<snif> I've finally taken the final step and have decided to close my Warbirds account. I am going to commit myself to Aces High from now on.
I'm glad I did it, and I know it was right, but I am sad at the same time. It's like having to say goodbye to your first love.
Can we have a "Warbirds Anonymous" therapy forumn here so I can get some help getting over this?

Torque, I can see how WB might get a bit expensive for you. Lets see now...18 hrs a day times $2.00 an hour times....WOW! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I still get that "my first love" feeling when ever i think of AW.
As far as giving up WB. You gave up a best friend. I feel like I gave up a child.
Glad your abord, and HTC hopes we can keep up with your expectations.

Hey HT - that's really moving... and i'm not being sarcastic..
Maybe after iEN folds you can have your child back for dimes and nickels...
Not that you don't have a pretter child already....
First love... fighter duel was its name...

This is therapy in itself guys, thanks for the replies.
HiTech, what really killed my interest in Warbirds was two-fold:
1. What I call "Player micro-managing". Though sounding like blasphemy, I think that Warbirds has actually suffered from too much player intervention, especially when it came to arguments about gunnery, otto, etc. iEN is spending so much time cow-towing to it's customers, that progress has slowed to a trickle. While I'm always in favor of a company listening to it's customers' concerns , it can go too far. I hope HTC will maintain that balance between their own vision and their customer's desires.
2. Development stagnation. I'm sure this is caused by many things, but the problem I noted above has to be a big part of it.
I know a lot of us are waiting to see what kinds of strategy HTC can come up with to break the old "Close airfield-capture airfield" strat that has been a staple in WB & AH. IMHO, strat could be the difference between the next great sim, and the also-rans.
So far, I'm very impressed with the speed and quality of what HTC has produced in AH. I just hope in your design plans or business plan that there is going to be a big push to revolutionize the strat in AH.
Just my 2 cents, thanks for listening.

I've practically quit WB's myself too. I know exactly how you fell banana.
I had my handle retired on the 'warbirds H2H ladder' where I'd fallen from #3 to #8 after mixing WB's and Aces High.
I also told the JG squad I was in over at WB's that I probably wouldn't be back. I have some great fun flying with those guys.
HTC just seem too committed to the development of this game, and offer such a good deal on it that I can't pass it up.
-
I couldnt agree with you more on #1 banana.
I feel exactly the same way, the game was being controlled by a vocal few, and not the company running the game.
If HT and Pyro do whats right with AH, it will retain the integrity necessary to be the best.

Today, I made a big step too.
I am now a paying member of Aces High!!
I did not leave WB because of the game play or the folks flying in WB.....It's iEN!!!
I started flying AH the first day of beta and meet some great folks. Today, it is because of the great folks flying in AH and HTC that I made the big jump and started paying.

I've still got an iEN account, too, but it turns out I'm only using it for Dawn of Aces. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I never played WB on-line, so I haven't cancelled my account.
AH is my first on-line experience with multiple players. Everytime I log on I am truely amazed! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
So basically Im spoiled! I figure this is the way it is supposed to be!
Being part of a top notch squad I believes, helps this immensely. The people at HTC have done one hellva job! Keep it going, ya got the correct ingredents!!

(http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) You're lucky Swager. Most of us have an old flame we have left on the way here. And some have a couple of old loves they've said bye to prior to coming to Aces High.
There's nothing really wrong or bad about WB's, or AW, or even FA. It's just AH is new, it's invigorating and refeshing. Hell it's absolutley awesome.
IMO Aces High has just pulled out so far ahead of the rest (be it the sim itself, the management..or both!!) that it if I 'fly' AW or WB's off line now (no account with either) I feel like I'm loading up a bit of old lore.
A token of yesteryear (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
I do not want to forget to say Welcome and "Hello" to a banana, a fine squadmate and 'virtual' pilot! I've enjoyed flying with you and the MOL very much this last week and I look forward to it more now than ever.

My situation is pretty much the same as Swaggers. Do online flight sim creators usually spend as much time flying and troubleshooting with thier customers as much as the HTC crew does now?
