Here's an interesting article (http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/madden200406181026.asp) about the popular myths of Inquisitions, and how they started.  Yes, it's a right-wing site.  But you don't find this kind of stuff on left-wing sites, they are too devoted to the idea that all bad things in human history were caused by religion.
