Unfortunatly P-51D skin in AH is symmetric :( can't but numbers on the fuselage
-
All excelent skins! Would love to see them online.
Ecke or Waffle, would u be interested in textures for LW pilot gear to be used in DUDE1.BMP and DUDE2.BMP files?
I've got;
- late war, all-black Kommando pilot suit
- early war, 'officer's pilot suit' with ties and simple life jacket
- late war, 'officer's pilot suit' with Knights Cross
- eneric khaki, summer pilot suit
.. and a few others including FAF pilot suits, Imperial Japanese pilot suit, and Soviet pilot suits..
-
Thanks Monk
Kweassa,
What a nice idea!
Unfortunally the G2 and G6 have been already sent to HTC. So there is only the F4 left. I guess a khaki summer suit would fit the best.
Where to get it?
Thanks in advance,
Ecke

Will up it at the AH-skins soon.

These are the spits I put in. The pics are poor quality but the actual skins are pretty crisp.
1st spit is RAAF "grey nurse" . There were several planes painted with grey nurse on the side. I chose This serial number and made it for AH2.
2nd spit is another MkVIII from 417. This was my uncle's personal ride when he was the CO of the unit. He scored his 9th kill in this plane against a FW-190 from SG-4 while a 109 from I/JG4 put a cannon hole in the rearview mirror that sat inches above his head. He still has that mirror and I have seen the hole in it. Kinda spooky considering how close that is to the pilots head.

This is the Molder's Fw-190A5 from the Eastern front I did a while back.

April 1944 allied bombing raids were reaking havoc on the German forces struggling to stay in the war.. a stunning red aircraft with unusualy fine lines stands in the tall grass waiting to unleash its deadly payload... The time comes I climb into the cockpit wondering if I will ever return home again. above the drone of bombers overhead is deafening like 1000 angry hornets. I am bolted in the sweat condencing on my palms and forhead.. waiting for the sound of liquid rocket fuel to be eqnited.. Finnaly it comes and I am forced back in my seat as I climb away from the grassy field. I maneuver into the bomber stream and unleash fire from my cannons upon a surprised flying fortress and it is over I glide in for a landing dazed........ the era of the jet has begun

Its the plane from Major Rudof Sinner, Gruppenkommandeur III. JG7, Briest 1945
(http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/29_1088599722_pilot-maj.rudolfsinnergruppenkommandeuriii.jg7,briest1945..jpg)
I had to search a while to find an more uncommon camouflage for the 262. Lots of them have the same look.
Since i didnt knew how the wings were painted, i took the following profile.
I guess it could be possible.
One question is left: Did the 262 have rivets along the panel lines? I didnt found any pics. Maybe someone can help me out?
-
Hi Ecke
see this page -> http://www.stormbirds.com/project/gallery/gallery_rollout_1.htm (http://www.stormbirds.com/project/gallery/gallery_rollout_1.htm)

Thank you Temset!
Ok, there are a couple of rivets or 'bolts'. But not as much as other planes had.
-
Ecke,
actually, the 262s did have alot of rivets on them, but the majority of the fuse rivets and joints had the tape/filler put over them, but the wings were pretty much standard flush rivets.
Take a look here.
http://aircraftwalkaround.hobbyvista.com/me262/me262.htm
theres a few pics of the bottom wing close up near the engine / gear area. The flash washes alot out, so you gotta look carefully.
but they're there. The top would show them better due to the darkness of the paint. You can eyebal the tops of the engine nacels for that. Again, it's all on how the lighting is. some pics you can see them fine, some you cant.
I would say at least do the top wing rivets, but do them toned down. Just for the view from the cockpit.
Also, I've found that rivets help give a "textured" feel to the wings.....sometimes I even exaggerate them a bit just for looks.
-
Also thanks to Waffle,
my google machine seems to be obsolete. :)
Didnt found that sites.

ecke what program u use my 190a-5 looks like crap compaird to urs

Great Work ECKE.
but are you sure your using RLM colors, the 262 seems a bit to red to me.
more info here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~rhorta/jgrlm.htm
and http://www.1java.org/sh/Germany.html
greets
-
Danke Maik,
i copied (sp?) a RLM colour chart from the web, but forgot the source. This 'red' should be RLM 26 'brown'.
Tomorrow i will check if the colour charts are different.
-
ok got photoshop7 and DLed the bright plugin but the panle lines and color edges dont look good what size and how many bits do u make ur skins ecke.
-
Try this site for your colors and see how these look. Seem to be pretty accurate for me.
Digital Color Charts for WWII (http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/digitalcolourchartswm_1.htm)
-
no i got the colors already what im talkin bout is when i make the skin its in 24bit but when i change it to 8bit the panle lines and when two colors meet and blend they dont look right.
-
Heres some of the pics i took while hanging out in the stormbirds hanger , you can see the rivets befor paint .but they coat it up pritty deep on the finished one .

Ecke search for mswanks 262 templates for FB/AEP. You can use it as a guide to place rivet / panel lines.
