I also will not be continueing into AH2 , I have a problem with the new sunglare in Ah2 , also find the in and out Icons hard to see or understand . The Sun Glare is a "real issue" with me and has been in the AH2 Beta's .
Eye- straine turns to head aches,.... down to my ankles after10 to 15 minutes gameplay . For me it is like looking at a Blowtorch or arc-welders flash and trying to play a game . I 'm far sighted and have had to wear glasses for gameplay since AW 2 days .
To all the people I have played AH 1 with and the AirWarriors from years past Thank you for the fun ! .
Best of Luck to all my Old Squad mates from CUCA`S SQUAD in RR PAC AirWarrior and also the other squad I had a gas belonging to & flying with , " THe SEA-SERPENTS " of AW and
AH 1.
40MAW! !!!
Thanks also to HTC and his crew , AH1 was a hell of a good time for me !!!
Maybe Krate will build a SAC overlay for the sun , like he did for people who had sight problems in AirWarrior ? someday ....
"See Ya in the DUST "..........

Erm.... that would be The Kraits, the squadron that brought SAC to AW..... and no, things are totally different (better) here. Maybe try wearing shades? :)

Checkers. Its very sad to see ya go. I understand your situation with the Sun Glare problem. If your eyes cant take it, then they just cant take it. Theres no crime in stating this fact. Suppose some smart guys will comment that you are whining. If this is a problem for you... Then whine away. Its your personal experience with the game that you are commenting about. PS...Your not the only one that thinks the Glare need toned down just a bit.But I know this is a serious issue for you and im sure there are others with eye conditions that are bumming about it too. Please keep in touch sir.

Try gamma adjustment... that might help.
-
The sun seems way too big or too bright in twilight conditions. Still, I wouldn't have thought it was a quitting issue.
-
Yeah the sun is way nasty--in my case, I'm using a GF4 ti-4400 that seems to be a "dark" card, that is, to comfortably view the desktop, you must turn the gamma up on the card to around 2.5--then, when you get into the game, it is also dark, so you have to turn up the gamma in the game as high as it willl go (to 3) and at that point the sun is BRUTAL when it's low in the sky.
Wish there was a way to fix it. It is *way* uncomfortable.

Exact now im looking the strongest Sun you can see.
Athens Greece 8 morning crystal clear air.
I see birds 5 degrees far from the sun. If i put my finger infrond i
can see mutch closer.
If a fighter was coming from there he had to be exactly on the disk or at least 5 degrees around to be invisible.
It only deeds to up your hand infrond of the sun to see everything 2-3 degrees near.
I see it with a glass infrond of me.
I think WWII pilots had raybans ;)

Hades55, you are right about the "Thumb in the Sun " , and the Raybans ...My dad has told me that the Tiger framed green lenzes
sunglass were common, and easly and cheaply bought at ReXall and Owl Drug Stores before WW 2 broke out .
Major Boyington taught his BlackSheep To do the very same thing . I read about this in his book .( I have an autographed copy) . I had the honor of meeting him at VanNuys Airport, Air Show long ago.
I have flowen alittle in warbirds and have alot of time WW II trainers
( AT 6's ) in the past when I used to live near Van Nuys Airport I used to hangout with the 146 Air Search & Rescue Squadron , made up of AT 6 ande various WarBirds back in the 60's and 70's .
and the thumb in the sun worked for me too .
Paxil Try gamma adjustment... that might help.
I have removed all traces of the past Beta's and have downloaded the complete AH 2 game thismorning , and will see
if I can screw around with the gamma adjustments to the point that eyestrain isn't an issue ...... for me.
beet1e The sun seems way too big or too bright in twilight conditions. Still, I wouldn't have thought it was a quitting issue
Ya bettle, It's an issue , and a damned big one with me , I don't like it one bit , and Im gona do what ever it takes to find a way to get around "my problem " ....... Hopefully with in a day or so........... I will have a work-around figured out ...... strange thing is that in IL2 FB I can play in the whiteout-snow storm blizzards for hours without getting the eyestrain ..... from trying to watch my six .......So there has to be an answer somewhere, because to just up a fighter and fall asleep at the stick and hope nobody nails my prettythang outa the sun, I think is lame way to play . Bettle , hope to see ya in the game soon !
Prolly won't beable to activate my account and get back in the game for testing untill tomorrow when the HTC Crew is back at work ...............
I would really like to hear input from other players that are stuck with poor eyesight , ie. ( color blind and farsighted like me ) as what if anything they have found that has helped them deal with the new game settings ? !!! or not ? !
Telling me to "try sunglasses" is a joke ? right Flossy LOL ..... .............. also I know "it's better here than AW , I ve been here since we all flew in the AirWarrior Europe FR Arena the night of Dec. 7 2000 , when those rotton EA bastages turned out the lights on AW .... and have also saved all the game downloads and films of that night and others , like both operation greens with "40 MAW flying around in a goon waving the victroy flag " .....remember Flossy ? also some ingame flim of you and your squad , also of Mage and I winging in P51's that last night ........ along with PAL ..... "Good Times" ! !!
everyone .......

Yes, sorry it was said a bit 'tongue-in-cheek"... I find the sun bright, but it doesn't bother me too much. ;)
I mainly piped in to point out that SAC was the work of members of the Krait Squadron rather than anybody called "Krate".
Yes, I have fond memories of AW and especially that last flyby - in December 2001 :p

It's not the card it's your monitor. I have the exact same card with a samsung syncmaster 763 (awesome monitor), but the monitor is extra bright so I have to turn brightness down and I use a program called "powerstrip" to adjust brightness, gamma etc. It can keep profiles saved for quick switches to some fav. settings.
-
Don't fly into the sun lol, only joking I feel for ya' hope you find a way round you problem and I might see ya in H2H arena:aok
-
YEah I used to think that too, but now that I have heard a couple of complaints, maybe there is something that should be done.
I love the effect, but if it is too bright for some people maybe there can be a setting for the sun. I have an lcd screen so maybe that is why it doesnt bother me.
If you want the sun glare effect it does not have to be a real sun glare, perhaps HTC should let players adjust its brightness. You will still be blind, and unable to see the opponent, but the people getting headaches could do something about it.

Um why dont you just turn down your gamma. And then maybe the sun might not be as bright.

That doesn't change the sun glare.
You really should wait to post suggestions about AH2 settings till your able to play and learn whats going on.
-
Sorry man I just thought that would work. Cause guys were saing that you could change daylight by doing that.
-
Only fix I've found is to turn down the contrast. But I sympathize with you. I'm sensative to lights at certain frequencies. Carbon lights (like those used as spot lights on boats) give me a tremendous headache. Also make sure you monitor refresh rate is high. A lot of peope cant take the rates around 60hz - lower is ok, higher is ok. But 60hz seems to mess with the brain - I've read there's a physiological reason for that fact.
-
Yeah that could be it, I never go below 80 on my refresh for crt monitors. 1 minute and i get a headache otherwise.

I run the Monitor refresh rate at 120 , and this evening I will be trying different settings with the gamma . Talked with Pyro yesterday afternoon , and he mentioned that it might help.
Pyro was at work yesterday, and was able to reinstate my AcesHigh account in game cpid yesterday, so I will see you guys in the game and try all the combos of settings and stuff that you all might think of .
Wild Card , I think you are right , I don't think the gamma is gona do squat , and any little effect the gamma has one way or another effects the complete picture . !
Maybe contrast ? Hell who knows ?
either way it will be a compromise over my target , ........................."of what the end product looked like in AH 1" . ......
Thank you All again for the input and advice ......

Sorry to see youy go, but I can sure understand. That sun will be a problem for certain folks.
BTW, are you using a LCD monitor? That could really help especially if you have eye problems. I switched to LCD, and it is so much easier on the eyes.

chkers hiteck said something in another post that "might" help
If AH2 is running at a lower refresh rate and its affecting you try this:
IIRCC set your desktop to a higher resolution that you want AH2 to run in then set your refresh rate higher. Now set your desktop to the resolution you had before. AH2 when opened will now run at the higher refresh rate you had set.
This works if you run AH2 at a different resolution than your desktop. Hopefully a higher refresh rate will help you.
i run my desktop at 1152X864 with a refresh rate of 85
I run AH2 at 1024X768 with a refresh rate of
100

Hi- Wild Card ,I run the game in 1024X768 I run monitor refresh rate at 120 , and in game i get 115 on the deck , at 1000ft it's up two 120 , in furballs and busy it stays between 100 to 120 , down low an fast, in fire fights with lots of cons ect. etc . it rarely drops to 85 , but as I extend out from the furball it jumps right back up ....
Thanks, anyway ...
