Post by: SELECTOR on June 19, 2004, 08:51:01 AM
this game just got better.. there are a few little problems. they will be fixed.
But copaired to ah1 this is better.. range system great ( hard to ajust to).. skins great...maps, not so great, sun glale, great( although a visor button would be good.)

its just a shame to see people stomping off, closing accounts and such..

but to them that do go...goodbye, fighter ace still has easy peezy flight modle..

Selector, let em go. There are 2 kinds of people leaving AH2. 1. The ones that their PC can't handle AH2. 2. The ones where THEY can't handle AH2. HTC can't please everyone all the time. As for those with smaller PCs, hey, that is life. If HT sat on AH1 for ever, it would only be a matter of time b4 somone came out with a better game and HT would be left standing in the dark ages. They can't honestly expect HTC to keep building simple games so that the small percentage of people that can't or won't upgrade can keep playing while everyone else is craving better graphics?

To the others that left because they find it too hard or don't want to deal with change, I suggest they start garage sale hunting for their old Atari boxes. The gunnery is awesome now. No more lucky 1.2D 50cal lazers cutting your plane in 2. ou want a kill, get in the fight and earn it.

There are a few minor bugs, but hey, they will get worked out. Not many games have been released and had no patches following because everything was perfect.

Alas, I dont have mommy to buy new setup, nor 600 spare bucks to spend on motherboard/chip/memory/video card---too much other crap goin on at house to justify---machine wasnt much for AH1, far less for 2. Might be back in a few months. Game DOES look nice, such that I can see.

Are Military is the best at the expence of us taxpayers.  And all the rest of our wealth goes to support others countries.  Thats why working class Americans have no money.

Lol, I dont taunt anyone about MY wealth;---that being said, a father cant justify buying something for himself for $500 or so when there are things about in the household that need replacing, upgrading, etc. The Shrew informs me that the dryer is ready to assume room temperature, for instance; I looked about on tigerdirect, I can build a something NEAR top-of-the-line for 500 or so (hmm..perhaps I can get our vast government to buy me one?)

I thought beetle hit it dead on, I found myself nodding at his comment not getting upset, infact I was really suprised to see how upset some people got.  Course, now I dont live in 'texas'.

Hmm...  last time I checked we give a smaller proportion of our gdp to foriegn aid than any other industrialized country in the world.

Back to the thread...

What is the major issue in the upgrade?  Is it the video card or the rest of the computer?  I am amazed at how many people believe you need this 'money' tree to buy a 40 dollar video card, or a 100 dollar mb chip combo.

40 dollars is what?  A days worth of gas for the average truck driving texan....

ducking and running...

edit-> here is a reference if you want it.
"[Americans] are regularly told by politicians and the media, that America is the world's most generous nation. This is one of the most conventional pieces of 'knowledgable ignorance'. According to the OECD, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the US gave between $6 and $15 billion in foreign aid in the period between 1995 and 1999. In absolute terms, Japan gives more than the US, between $9 and $15 billion in the same period. But the absolute figures are less significant than the proportion of gross domestic product (GDP, or national wealth) that a country devotes to foreign aid. On that league table, the US ranks twenty-second of the 22 most developed nations. As former President Jimmy Carter commented: 'We are the stingiest nation of all'. Denmark is top of the table, giving 1.01% of GDP, while the US manages just 0.1%. The United Nations has long established the target of 0.7% GDP for development assistance, although only four countries actually achieve this: Denmark, 1.01%; Norway, 0.91%; the Netherlands, 0.79%; Sweden, 0.7%. Apart from being the least generous nation, the US is highly selective in who receives its aid. Over 50% of its aid budget is spent on middle-income countries in the Middle East, with Israel being the recipient of the largest single share"

This is from a congressional report.

"By nearly all measures, the amount of foreign aid provided by the United States
declined for several decades but has grown in the past few years. After hitting an alltime
low in the mid1990s, total foreign assistance (but excluding Iraq reconstruction)
for FY2003/2004, in real terms, has been larger than any two-year period since the
mid-1980s. The 0.2% of U.S. gross national product represented by foreign aid
obligations the past two years, however, is among the smallest amounts in the last
half-century. The United States is the largest international economic aid donor in
dollar terms but is the smallest contributor among the major donor governments
when calculated as a percent of gross national income.

Lol ErgRtc. I have a 40 dollar vid card NOW....I already know what they can do (or cant) Actually it's a Radeon 7200.....rest of my machine is somewhat previous to that. It was a top of line card in its day..was $100-150 or so I think....top of line NOWadays is similar in price I think.

Beyond that, why must so many leftists be so CAUStic? Vast majority of Brits i've ever met have been nothing but nice....people can have honest disagreements over issues of the day and remain civil, or at least they used to.

"leftists be so CAUStic"

Leftists are caustic?  okay.  Which side is talking about goosestepping and misrepresenting how much 'personal' sacrifice we americans make on aid for other countries?

I would rather be caustic than blindly nationalistic.

Back to the subject.

40 dollars now will buy you a nice card that will run ah2 though.  I am currently playing on a gf3 till I can afford to upgrade (next week), and even then I am not sure if I want to buy anything other than a 40 dollar 9200 or a 5200.

Texas envy.  Wow.  That must be like South Dakota envy.  A psychosis of those living in a god forsaken (fill in texas, south dakota, lousiana (besides B. R. and N. O. perhaps), and so on) place to make them believe that it is in fact enviable to live there.

Now, Hawaii envy, that is what I have.  LIttle bit of Londen envy, Paris envy, Burlington Vermont is nice, Chicago is temtping.  I wouldnt mind living up by Bemidji Minnesota either.  All very nice places.  Much nicer than DC in many ways.

And you think pouring money into the IMF is helpfull to developing countries? Africa, Bangladesh? A lot of these countries high on the giving list have put up trade barriers to the same people they purport to help, leaving their countries in a perpetual state of welfare poverty and war.

A political/social type forum might be a better place to test your world views.  As always, the one liners don't tell the whole story.

Erg..what I have NOW runs AH2....but what I have, (as WELL as an average machine with 40$ vid card) is rather like charging a machine gun nest with a sharp stick. ... Dont need a Cray super-puter...but if ya simply cant see stuff, or see it 2-3 seconds delayed....might as well stick to GV's/Bombers...and GV's with poor machines are even at disadvantage. The frustration of gettin my prettythang kicked due to this outweighs the fun the game usually provides. It's not like I didnt know all this 6 months ago, just havent dealt with it; everything in life has a level of importance, and this IS, after all, a game. ) I'll prolly force the birthday issue a few months early)  I'm partial to the Hitech company, and I'll be back to AH after I resolve the issue :aok

Is this really what you think when you think of American involvement in WWII? This is profoundly short sighted, small and bitter.

Sure lots of Americans think first that we came to the rescue of the world. We also realize how valiantly our British, Polish, and French(and other) friends fought in the early days of the war(and later on).

Americans love you Brits, why is it you dislike us so?
