For the last 10 years I've been givin the run around on my Military Medical Records. I Retired in 95 my records went to the Regional Distict of my home of Record which was Cleveland, OH. Well the time came up for my Disability exam but I was in Jackson, MS at the time. Had my records transferred to VA Hosp Jackson, MS. 1st time always the disapprove disability, it's a hard road to travel. here's my point. I live in Oklahoma now and tried to get my Medical Records transferred to Tulsa. Called Jackson, MS many times just to be told, they dont have them, cant find them or place me on hold for 45 minutes and then hang up.
I've emailed, written, called VA Reps and end up getting blown off. Today I emailed a whole list of VA Reps and included my Congressman. Has anyone else had this problem? And if so how far up the ladder did you have to go?

Call the DAV.
I went through 4 appeals over 8 years before I went down to the local DAV office. he walked downstairs to the VA office and I had the full 100 percent I was supposed to get that day.
no really.. call the DAV near you and explain the situation. The VA is swamped now and it will take some extra muscle to make something happen.

Truely a bummer. GL with that!
-
Thought you had to have a percentage 1st to see the DAV?

Jumped for 8 1/2 years before I got a lower back fracture, plus a few years in tunnels, knees are ripped bad. Over inoculated with Hep C, now high BP and Diabeties...other than that everyday is a Monday.
-
Thanks rabbidrabbit, I might just do that...still need my medical records.
-
Just call them.. they are free. you don't have to have any sort of rating to ask them for help. They know the system and have connections.

Kwel, Thanks Bro... Nuthin better than a Vet helpin a Vet!

Just don't forget to do it. Pick up that phone or look them up at DAV.org on Monday morning.

What Rabbit said!
And dont worry about your records, the DAV can help you get them. Lived in Norman for 3 years, and "delt" with the VA 2 or 3 times, keep at it.
10% here too If I can get them up to 30% I get the medicly retiered card and can go buy beer at the class 6 store
BTW the best German food in NA is in Moore OK on Sooner road south of Tinker AFB its called "The Royl Bavarian" and Jergan brews his own bier on site.

Oh BTW all I sent a copy of all the crap I've been through to Senator Inhofe, Republican, Oklahoma.
I did forget to mention that last week I got a personalized signed photo of George and Laura.. seems they love the Grass roots Ohio born Republicans that have served their Country.
I still love the letter from President Ronald Reagan I got back in 1980. Watta guy!
Ohhh and all the emails I sent out for a request for assistance to locate my medical records that are in Jackson, MS. I got a reply from Adrian Grice, Board Member of Veterans Affairs in Mississippi requesting that I seek assistance from a VA rep in Oklahoma. I replied back.... just a lil shy from calling her a stupid biyatch! Just gonna run the flag up the pole... I frikken tired of it all now and I'm Pisssssed!!!! Not gonna hold back any punches. Told her that she knows her job but just doesn't wanna fuggin do it!

Fair warning... I sure know how frustrating it can be but the last thing you want to do is burn bridges unless you have no other choice. You need friends here, not enemies. Keep up the fight, just make sure its the good fight.

100% here, guess I'm lucky that AAR's and hospital records etc. were available. Disability was awarded with no probs. Getting good medical care from VA hosp is another story. DAV is the organization that has been most helpful to me. The VA is a large cumbersome entity that is maddening to deal with without some sort of help. Hang in there. Good luck
