Title: crashing to deasck top

`hi guys  i been trying to do  a skin.i  got  it  in to ah2  but  when i try  to access it in the  hanger  it crashes  to desk top.
   i guess  i  didnt do some thing right just  need  help  to find out what?

It has to be a 265 color BMP or u will get booted

No, it has to be 265 colors (8 bit), but it can be 1024x1024 pixels in size.

Just convert the image to 8-bit, and you should be in business

Photoshop 7 does not give 8-bit color as an option when you do a "save as" for BMP files. You can convert them to indexed color (use adaptive!) then save them again and 8-bit is an option. I don't know why this is so but it is :D

Check the properties (Right click) of the skin you have made. If it is more than 1.0meg, you didn't save it as an 8 bit BMP and it will crash the game every single time..

Been there, done that.

A FEW times :D

As Elbert said, change the mode to "indexed color", than  256 color, Local (adaptive) and that will save it as 8 bit color. "Adaptive" takes the color shades YOUR using and gives you 256 options. "Forced black and white" just makes sure you have a slot in your pallet for black and white. Adaptive saves ugly change overs to BMP files because it uses your samples to create a 256 color pallet.

thanks  for  you  help  guys.i  had  one  part  not  as  256  and  had  not noticed.now  i  redeuced it  it  works  ok.going  to  do  some  more to it  now  i  figured  out  what to do
