The TrackIR hardware/software has gotten refined to the point where it really works quite well in games that support it (IL2-FB, LOMAC, FS2004, Falcon 4.0 (3D pit), and even Bore-Birds), even where you can emulate "mouselook".
Any chance of this being built into AH2?

Quick somebody Gag him !
-
Please I hope it comes soon...
-
I asked HT about it in the MA yesterday, and he replied...
It is on the list, just not at the top.

I'll BUY Hitech a TrackIR3 Pro if he makes this a priority, hows that?

Out of curiosity what the heck is that? :)

PPJoy installs a Virtual Joystick Driver, which you can assign the view axises to in AH Joystick setup. TIRJoy, I believe, is an interface between TrackIR and this virtual JStick Driver. It DOES work, and you can look (Pan) around in the cockpit but regardless of how I calibrated this virtual stick I could never get it correct in-game. To top it off my SoundMax sound drivrer had a conflict with it for some reason, wasn't worth going crazy over.. I'm going to play with the Mouse panning and see if I can't grt TIR to work using that..

Ah. thanks.
And fwiw I'm in the very slow process of trying out "Freelook" using a home made IR led device and my PC's webcam. Was wondering if doing that dance would help me out too :)

There is no comparison between Enhanced and anything else....its like a whole new world. I found the Pjoy thingy to be next to useless and the other area keymap program to be more of a hassle than its worth (Ive already got my hat switch mapped...I dont want to map my head).
Call me crazy....but Im sure HT will get it done in due course. I just hope its close enough to the top to see light:D
-
Please add my 'please' to the list of pleases, pretty please. It would sure please me to see TrackIR native support in AHII.
How 'bout it HT? Move it closer to the top of the list? Please?
PPJoy/TIR2joy is rather unpleasing compared to TIR enhanced ... and I won't go back to the gamey hatswitch/snap views after seeing the light with IL-2.

What does enhanced mode offer over mouse emulation mode (I'm not finding mouse emulation mode very useful or enjoyable)?
-
Enhanced mode always returns to the default straight ahead position when you look front.
Mouse mode can end up with you looking left to get the front view etc.
Also in enhanced mode you can configure the TIR response curve.

While we're on the subject, here's my request for additional irtracker support:
- enhanced mode of course
- ability to disable or freeze the view with keystroke (for those zoomed in views)
- ability to switch (on-the-fly) from look around view control of irtracker to change perspective control. Yes, this could be mapped to irtracker now but the lean your head perspective views change much too slowly for this to be useful with irtracker. Guess this would require a fundamental change in how your viewpoint change is now in effect.

Got an email from the guys at TrackIR and it seems that support is coming *soon*...
-
Icer, I was about to bring that up, but you beat me to it. TrackIR offers developers help in getting it done (it only makes sense). That might help get the TIR project higher into that stack of paper on HT's inbox.
I flew for the first time with one of these on this weekend at a friends house, it was the version 3-pro, and the sim was IL2-AEP. It took me a couple of hours to get the hang of it but...HOLY IMMERSION BATMAN!
