My current system has problems running AH2 (frame rates really low when multiple planes in close prox) so I am looking to upgrade my vid card. I have looked at the 9600 Pro and XT (both 128 cards) and wonder if the XT is worth the extra $20?
My current system is a 1.5 P4 with 512 ram and a GeForce2 MX400.
OR, would I be better off looking to upgrade my entire system? Money is tight (stupid house....) so I'm hoping upgrading the vid card will get me where I need to be. I certainly don't want to cheap out and end up STILL unsatisified. The 9800 cards are not an option since my power supply appears to only be 160 watts.
Thanks.

9600Pro is a great card. Your processor is a lil slow so you will not get the full capabilities out of the card. 9600XT is a bit better, but not much noticeably. If you don't want to spend the extra 20 bucks the 9600Pro will work fine. Both great cards, you will not see to much of a difference between the 2, just that the XT version is a bit faster. But you prob won't see the difference since your processor is a bit slow as I've said. So it is really up to you:)

I'm still flying on a 1.67 amd with a 9000 pro 128 mb ati. (8500 chipset)
While tis not outstanding its certainly good enough to fly.
Buy the pro, get up & flying. Save money for a new system next year. The 9600 will really fly in that.
