The La5's were infamous for a "bounce" during landing that was said to be off putting to new pilots.
I have just read that this was not the case with the La7 whose (80mm) longer gear enabled an increase shock absorber length which gave a much better landing characturistic.
From this one would presume that the La5 bounce was a function of a rigid suspension rather than an elastic one.
