Title: For Friday
Post by: Soulyss on June 24, 2004, 10:15:10 AM
For friday I was thinking of using the ndisles, or whatever the small island MA map is to run just sort of a generic late war PTO planeset, as a change of pace from the ETO we have up now.  What you guys think?

Sounds good. What sort of fuel burn rate will we have in there? And will late war aircraft be perked,
or will choices be controlled?

Just guessing, but I dont think we will mess with fuel burn rate just yet.

Ndiles - pretty close bases.  Perked Val? You becha!  One Million Perks.

Seriously though, we're going to set it up as a two side with a neutral island country.  Fuel burn will probably be default.

Anyone found bombing/attacking the neutral country will be tarred and feathered.  :D

I won't get a chance to change the arena tonight, I'll have to do it when I get home from work tomorrow.  Around 6pm pacific, or so, sorry for the delay guys.

As  for planesets I have a couple ideas.  What I may try to do is dvide the map into North and South with neutral counties in the middle with nasty flak settings and put late war planes in the N and early war in the S.  This idea just came to me and I dunno if it's a good one yet or not.  If I don't go with it I'll probably just enable just about all the PTO planes so people can get a chance to fly a variety and get used to the new FM .

Untill we get actual terrains I'm kinda treating this time as a testing period for players to get used to the new settings and also this gives us in the staff a chance to do some trial and error and see what works and what doesn't.

Open up the whole blue plane vs the whole axis plane set unperked.  Place the uber planes like the 4Hog, 262  way back ( three sectors)  The unreasonably perked Planes CHog, Ta152 in the middle (two sectors)

OK The Forkster bailed me out and got things setup.  The arena is setup east/west.  Complete USN/USMC vs IJN planeset minus the F4U4 and the chog.  I will take a look at things tonight and go from there.  I MAY add the chog at limited fields or somthing but I haven't decided yet.  I'm not a fan of the chog as I've stated in the past so it will most likely be left out unless I can think of some clever way to get it in there, but who knows a solution may present itself.

So things should be up and running with the possibility of tweaks later tonight.

This leave out the Chog thing ran its course in AH 1. Its a whole new game now and there is NO  reason why the Chog should be kept out.

My issue with the chog is that it pretty much renders the F4U-1D useless, while the -1D was the more historically significant model.   I know I've made concessions to gameplay in the face of history in the past, but I don't see what the chog adds in this case.  At most it will be added in some limited capacity.  It will not be included in an unrestricted format.

Soulyss,
I thank you for enabling the F4U-1D, however, you did say this was considered a test stage so we can get use to the FMs. If this is the caes, and even if we dont get the Chog and F4U-4 later, this is still the test phase right?

Again, I do have the F4U-1D, thanks!

Yeah I do consider it a testing phase, but afaik the -1C and -1D have the same FM.  Even if this is the case the idea that this is a time to see how things work out is the most compelling argument in my mind to include the F4u-1C in some sort of limited way.  I just can't bring myself to include the -4 hog in an open arena. The performance gap is just two large.  Countering it with a Axis jet doesn't work IMHO, I loathe the jets and consider them to be more trouble than they're worth.
